Woman Asks 101-Year-Old Great-Grandma to Be Maid of Honor at Her Wedding after Promising It as a Child
A heartwarming video surfaced online where a young woman asked her great-grandmother to be the maid of honor at her wedding. Little did the bride-to-be know that her granny would pass away before her big day.
As a child, Erin Radmann watched her great-grandmother, Rose, teach her things that no one else did. The young woman shared a heartwarming bond with her granny, which only grew stronger with time.
Radmann loved sharing photos of her grandmother on Instagram. She always celebrated Rose's birthdays and ensured she felt special on her big day each year.
A Special Promise
When Radmann was 13, she made a promise to her great-grandmother but wasn't sure when life would give her a chance to fulfill it. Radmann recalled:
"I promised my grandma she would be my maid of honor at my wedding."
At that point, the teenager had no idea when or who she would marry, but she knew her beloved granny would be her maid of honor. Years later, Radmann met the love of her life and soon decided to tie the knot with him.
She Said Yes
In January 2021, Radmann's best friend and the man she loved the most went down on his knees and asked her to marry him. After saying yes, Radmann uploaded photos on Instagram to share the news of her engagement with the world.
In October 2021, Radmann celebrated Rose's 102nd birthday, unaware that her great-grandmother would breathe her last a few days later.
Radmann planned to marry her fiancé in 2022, so she began preparing for her big day in the summer of 2021. At the time, she recalled the promise she had made to Rose years ago.
The Thoughtful Gift
Instead of simply asking her grandma to be her maid of honor, Radmann came up with a beautiful idea. She gifted Rose a necklace that came inside a box with a message that read:
"Grandma Rose, Will you be my maid of honor? Love, Erin."
Since Radmann knew Rose's reaction would be priceless, she decided to record it and post it online. In the Instagram video, Radmann and Rose are seen sitting at a table when the young girl asks Rose to read what's written inside the box.

The Emotional Moment
The priceless moment came when Radmann handed her 101-year-old great-grandmother a magnifying glass and waited for her to read the text. After reading the message, Rose asked:
"You never gave up on me?"
"
?" Radmann
as she held Rose's arm. The great-grandmother felt emotional because Radmann still remembered the promise she had made over a decade ago.

She Promised to Be There
"Okay. I'll have to learn to walk?" Rose joked. Then Radmann extended her arms and asked Rose to promise she would be the maid of honor, after which the duo hugged each other tightly. Radmann added:
"You can wear this necklace on my wedding day!"
The heartwarming seconds-long video left its viewers in tears, but Radmann had no idea that fate's plans wouldn't allow Rose to be at her wedding.
Gone Too Soon
Months later, in October 2021, Radmann celebrated Rose's 102nd birthday, unaware that her great-grandmother would breathe her last a few days later. On October 13, Radmann posted photos on Instagram and said:
"Yesterday, we lost my sweet great-grandma Rose."
The Maid of Honor
Rose closed her eyes months before Radmann's big day, but that didn't mean she couldn't participate in her great-granddaughter's wedding ceremony. Radmann held her grandmother's photo during her wedding ceremony in May 2022 while surrounded by friends and family. The young woman said in a post:
"Thank you for being my maid of honor, watching from heaven."
After losing Rose, Radmann missed her terribly and often cried, recalling their time together. She also shared a heartwarming post on Instagram on the day Rose would have celebrated her 103rd birthday had she been alive.
"
. Instead, I'll celebrate you and all of our incredible memories together," Radmann
and wished her great-grandmother a "happy 1st heavenly birthday."
Rest in peace, Rose! We hope your great-granddaughter cherishes the memories she made with you, and we wish her the best of luck for the new chapter of her life.
