Aussie native Paul Hogan revealed that old age contributed to his health deteriorating and is only hanging on by a thread. Moreover, he is homesick but is forced to remain in the US.

Australian actor Paul Hogan got candid about his ill health during an appearance on the Australian TV program "A Current Affair," saying that he has become so sickly that he is "being held together with a string."

Paul explained that he was struggling with his health and even had a pacemaker fitted. Although he received treatment for his failing condition, he lost a surmountable amount of weight:

"I've been better. I had a problem on the aorta and the kidney, and the treatment fixed it, but it shrunk me."

The comedian's sickness left him with no physical strength, and he has had his son, Chance, help him around the house:

"I've lost all my body fat, and the muscles all shrank, and my strength has come back because it left me feeble. I had to get Chance to open jars for me. I've just got zero body fat."

Paul, 83, indulges in unhealthy foods to regain his lost weight. He compared himself to his friends, saying that though they were the same age, he ate food they were not allowed to consume.

"Quite a few of my friends on diets hate me for it because I try and eat everything fatty and lardy you can think of. Everything they're not allowed to have. I can't put on an ounce," said the veteran star.

Paul managed to remain fit until his 70s and expressed that it was a shame that he lost it all because of his declining health:

"I maintained...right up until 79. I was still fit. I'd still take out most 40-year-olds, then I turned 80, and there's a saying that turning 80's not for sissies because things start to fall apart, but, no, I can't complain."

Why Doesn't He Want to Leave His Son?

The "Crocodile Dundee" star said amid his health woes, he longs to be in his home country, Sidney, Australia. Paul currently resides in Los Angeles, California, and noted that he could not go home because of his son, Chance, who was born in the United States. He emphasized that he prefers being home because he is homesick.

Paul lives with his punk rocker son, Chance. The father and son duo share a home in Venice Beach. He reportedly told The Daily Telegraph that he is his child's only living immediate family.

"The only family [Chance has got] is me," he revealed. The doting father revealed his son's close relatives, such as his grandparents, are all deceased.

The father of six said although Chance often visits Australia and loves it there, his entire life has been based in the US.

"All his friends, his band, musician mates, girlfriends, everything – they're all American. He only has me, whereas my tribe at home, they've all got each other," the Academy Award nominee explained.

Chance is Paul's youngest child, whom he shares with his former wife, former actress Linda Kozlowski.

What about His Personal Life?

Paul wed three times in his lifetime and married one woman twice. In September 2019, he openly discussed his failed marriages in ABC TV's "Australian Story," wherein he admitted: "I'm not a great husband. I'm good early."

Paul recalled that he crossed paths with his first spouse, Noelene Edwards, while he worked as a lifeguard. He divulged they hit off instantly and soon walked down the aisle:

"I was a massive flirt, I liked her, and she liked me, and we got married. I had my first son at 19. I had three sons by the time I was 22, so I had to grow up very fast."

Regardless, Paul said he "loved" that experience because he and his brood "grew up together." The Hollywood star and Edwards welcomed five kids together: daughter Lauren and sons Clay, Brett, Scott, and Todd.

Edwards and Paul got married in 1958 but separated in 1981. However, they later rekindled their romance in 1982 by remarrying, only to split in 1990.

Paul met his second wife, Kozlowski, on the set of the 1986 film series, "Crocodile Dundee," while still married to Edwards. The Golden Globe nominee reportedly perceived him as "a little aloof" upon their first meeting.

The director of the movie, Peter Faiman, revealed Paul and Kozlowski butted heads on set since the first day, but their dislike for each other soon turned into strong feelings. As filming progressed, the co-stars began to understand one another better.

Still, the fact that Paul was a married man bothered the Connecticut native, said Paul's friend, Delvene Delaney. Irrespective of that, they could not deny their connection and ended up getting hitched in 1990 following Paul's divorce from Edwards. The film stars welcomed their only son together, Chance, and later divorced in 2014.
