Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman was the realization of Anne Hathaway's dream of motherhood. The 6-year-old, whose name has familial origins, is fiercely protected from the public's eye, and his mother humorously takes advantage of his gullibility.

Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman drew his first breath on March 24, 2016, born to Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman in Los Angeles. Surrounded by family and friends, Jonathan Rosebanks was a healthy newborn whose parents couldn't wait to start raising.

In 2013, his mother opened up about her dream of having a family. The actress vowed to love her children "fiercely," gushing about how much she anticipated meeting them. Anne felt silly about her excitement, as she admitted that it was something she "thought about all the time."

Still, she wondered about the kind of mother she would become, saying it would depend on the sort of children she had. When Jonathan Rosebanks was born, stepping into parenthood made Anne realize the importance of parental leave.

Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman's Name Has a Unique Origin

Jonathan Rosebanks' middle name is a combination of his family members' names from both the maternal and paternal sides. His maternal great-grandfather was Roseline, and his paternal grandmother's maiden name was Banks.

Moreover, Jonathan Rosebanks' dad's middle name is also Banks. He is also affectionately known as "Jonny" or "JRS," an abbreviation Anne used to refer to her firstborn alongside his rare appearance on her Instagram page.

Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman Is Adorably Gullible at Times Which His Mom Takes Advantage of

During a virtual appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Anne said the then-4-year-old Jonathan Rosebanks believed everything she and Adam would say, which the "Ocean's 8" star thought was both "adorable" and mischievously admitted was "useful."

Jonathan Rosebanks' mom added that she told him anything at that age to get him to do whatever she wanted him to, revealing – and prefacing – that the toddler's weakness was his belief in Santa Clause.

Anne recounted a story where she and Adam were driving with Jonathan Rosebanks and his younger brother, Jack, a 1-year-old at the time. Jonathan had a box of crackers that Jack wanted, but he didn't like to share any. Anne suddenly realized that she could use Jonathan Rosebanks' weakness against him, as she explained:

"And then finally, I have this spark, and I go, 'Okay, Jonny, but what about Santa?'"

In that instant, Jonathan Rosebanks immediately gave the box of crackers back to his mom, and his parents realized "how powerful" his belief in the father of Christmas was. While she didn't elaborate, Anne was likely referring to Jonathan Rosebanks' fear of entering Santa's naughty list for not sharing crackers with his baby brother.

Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman's Privacy Is Fiercely Protected by His Parents

Before moving to a new home in California, Jonathan Rosebanks lived with his family in a $2.55 million apartment in the Upper West Side of Manhattan for a few years. As a baby, he was rarely seen out in public with his parents.

However, when they did step out, the couple took measures to protect their eldest's identity as the paparazzi followed them. In October 2016, Anne and Adam walked the streets of Midtown, New York City, with Jonathan Rosebanks hidden away in his stroller.

Anne wore a navy blue square-patterned coat with matching-color gym tights, black-and-white sneakers, and hair styled in a ponytail. Adam matched his wife with shoes and sunglasses but wore a brown shearling jacket, black Nike shorts, and a gray T-shirt.

The following year, on his birth month, Jonathan Rosebanks appeared with his face turned away once more on his mom's Instagram page. The youngster wore his lion pajamas, and as her caption revealed, he focused on the UN speech she delivered about parental leave.

Anne Hathaway spoke about how her son's birth helped her see the importance of parental leave for both mothers and fathers, as American women could have 12 weeks of unpaid leave, but soon-to-be fathers received none.
