Christian Holmes V Became a Top Executive after Leaving Theranos – Facts about Elizabeth Holmes' Brother's Life

After leaving his sister's health technology startup, Elizabeth Holmes' brother, Christian V Holmes, now works as a top executive in a private firm established in 1998.

Christian's sister, Elizabeth, the founder of Theranos, was recently sentenced to at least 11 years in prison after she was convicted of defrauding investors. Judge Edward Davila enforced a sentence of 11 years and three months in jail.

Davila added another three years of supervision after Elizabeth is set free. The verdict included a fine of $400, or $100 per every count of fraud. Elizabeth, expected to appeal her conviction, was instructed to turn herself in custody on April 27, 2023.

Christian also worked for Theranos for several years and held an important position with the company. He was a senior manager at the blood-testing startup and made crucial decisions.

Christian Worked for Only 1 Organization before Joining Theranos

Christian is Elizabeth's younger brother and son to Christian Holmes IV and Noel Holmes. He attended Duke University and received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Markets, and Management.

While still studying at university, he spent one semester abroad studying at NYU in Prague, Czech Republic. According to his LinkedIn profile, Christian studied at The Webb Schools.

The skills he touts on his page include Business Development, Project Management, Business Strategy, New Business Development, Sales, and Management.

Christian graduated from the university in 2009. That same year he joined a federal internship at CEB, now Gartner, in Washington D.C., Metro Area.

Elizabeth Hired Her Brother and His Friends to Work

In 2011, Christian was hired by his sister at Theranos two years after graduating from university. At the time, he had no experience in the medical field, but she gave him a senior position.

Christian also employed some of his friends from college as senior product managers. They were in charge of training Walgreens drugstore employees who were supposed to deliver Theranos testing services starting in late 2013.

Christian Attended a Dinner at the White House

Christian lives a private life; he has no social media accounts and rarely appears in paparazzi photos. However, he has been spotted several times at high-end events with his sister.

The most memorable public appearance was at a 2015 state dinner hosted by former U.S. president Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The event was held at the White House in Washington, D.C, in honor of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Christian and his sister were also spotted together at The Distinguished Citizen Award Gala hosted by The Commonwealth Club of California in 2016.

Christian Is Now Vice President & Sector Head at GLG

After leaving Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes' brother, Christian Holmes V, joined Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), where he started as Senior Manager, Business Development. In just a year, Christian got promoted to Vice President in the business development section.

Even though Christian stays away from the spotlight, he is an important part of his sister's life and her company Theranos.

A year later, Christian relocated from San Francisco Bay Area to Austin, Texas, where he continued serving as Vice President in the Account Management section. In 2020, he became the Vice President & Sector Head of BioPharma.

As of April 2022, he is the Vice President & Sector Head of Industrials/Chemicals/Materials and Corporate Growth. According to the GLG website, the company is the World's Insight Network that connects decision-makers with the best experts.

The company was founded in 1998 in New York City and has offices in 13 countries. GLG, which started as a publishing firm focused on reports about investors, now boasts over 2,300 employees. The company is privately owned, and Paul Todd operates as the CEO.

A Hospital in Cincinnati Is Named after Christian's Great-Great-Grandfather

Christian comes from a prominent lineage. His paternal great-great-grandfather was an engineer and doctor who migrated from Denmark to Cincinnati, Ohio.

He became successful and was named after a hospital in Cincinnati. Christian's grandfather was also a successful businessman, and his grandmother worked as a model.

On the other hand, Christian's dad joined the public service and worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development and State Department. Very little is known about Christian's mother, Noel Anne Daoust, but she once worked as a foreign policy aide in the government.

Part of Christopher's Life Was Shown in "The Dropout''

Even though Christian stays away from the spotlight, he is an important part of his sister's life and her company Theranos.

For this reason, Christian is highlighted in the Hulu TV series ''The Dropout,'' which tells the story of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes' attempt to revolutionize the healthcare industry after dropping out of college and starting a technology company.

Three actors portrayed Christian in the series: Tice Proctor and Jake Satow played young Christian at eight years old and 14 years old, respectively. Sam Straley played an adult Christian in two episodes; "Flower of Life" in episode 5 and "Heroes" in episode 7.

The series' first episode is focused on Elizabeth Holmes' life after dropping out of college to begin her startup. In the episode, Elizabeth's character is revealed, and different life stages are displayed.

Throughout the collapse of Theranos, Christian's parents supported his sister and have been accompanying her to her trial cases.

On the last day of the court hearing, Elizabeth held her mother's hand and quickly made her way past the crowd. After the verdict was read out, Christian's father kissed Elizabeth's forehead as they left the court.
