Their love story began in high school, and now they are the perfect couple.
The quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes, recently had his second child with his wife, Brittany Matthews. The couple announced the birth of Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III on November 29.
The proud father posted a photo on Instagram of his new son lying on his back on a bed as the announcement. Fans and friends congratulated the pair and sent their best wishes to the mom and dad. Patrick junior has a sister, Sterling Skye Mahomes.
Lavon was born on Monday, November 28. His sister was born a year ago, and Brittany announced her birth with a photo on Twitter. In the photo, Sterling holds her mom's finger. It's captioned, Sterling "Skye Mahomes 2/20/21 @PatrickMahomes."
When the couple announced Brittany was pregnant, they had gotten married only two months earlier. For the announcement, the two put their daughter between them in a shirt that said:
"I have a secret to tell you."
Brittany shared that she loves being a mom and said her favorite part is being "best friends" with her daughter. She shared that she loves spending time with her daughter and always feels better when Sterling is around. She also marveled at how quickly her daughter is learning and growing.
Eventually, after almost a decade together, Patrick got down on one knee in a VIP box after receiving his first championship ring.
The mom said the 21-month-old girl is growing steadily and can do more things independently by the day. Whenever Brittany stands next to the football field supporting her husband, Sterling is standing there with her mom, rooting for her dad.
Patrick and Brittany are proud parents after the birth of their second little one. Although they only got married two months before announcing their second child is on the way, the couple has been together for a long time. They met in high school and have been dating ever since.
Patrick & Brittany Matthews: From High School Sweethearts to Power Couple
Patrick and Brittany started out as two kids going to the same school in Texas. The two met in 2011 at Whitehouse High School, and they became good friends. The following year on Valentine's, he surprised her with a rose and a card.
Brittany and Patrick were both athletes in high school, and they supported and bonded through sports. The two became very close, and when the time came to pick colleges, they made a tough choice by going to different schools. Brittany reminisced about leaving school:
"He ended up going to Texas Tech, and that’s when it really hit me, 'He might go play professional football.' It was surreal to see him living his dream and seeing him grow as an athlete and as a man in general was just amazing."

Patrick played football for Texas Tech, while Brittany focused on soccer at the University of Texas. After a few years of honing their skills, Patrick decided to try out for the NFL in April 2017 and was immediately picked by his team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the very same year, Brittany signed with Iceland's soccer team. They were making enough money to buy an impressive house after just two years of playing for their teams, although they always remained supportive. After Patrick's team won the Super Bowl in 2020, Brittany tweeted:
"I am so beyond proud of this dude and this team, all year it was about battling, amazing comebacks and overcoming an injury, and for that YOU DESERVE THIS."
Eventually, after almost a decade together, Patrick got down on one knee in a VIP box after receiving his first championship ring. Brittany said yes, and they enjoyed a romantic dinner together. But after getting engaged, the two announced they wouldn't be on their own for long.
But the two would have to wait for their daughter before they could marry. In September 2020, the two announced via Instagram Brittany was pregnant. In February 2021, Sterling was born, and it was only after her birth that the couple finally went to Hawaii and tied the knot on March 12, 2022.
They had an intimate ceremony with their close family members and friends. Afterward, on March 15, they set off on their honeymoon and traveled to a range of breathtaking islands in St. Barts. Two months later, their second baby was on his way.
Five days before the birth of his baby son, Patrick celebrated his growing family with a photo shoot and a post on Instagram. Three photos showed him, his pregnant wife, and their little girl posing together. The football star simply captioned it, "Thankful ❤️."
