Sage Florence Galafassi Taught Her Mother 'in the Womb' & Continues to do So - Facts about Toni Collette's Daughter

Since her existence, Sage Florence Galafassi has taught her mother many life lessons. She is the eldest child of the celebrated Australian actress Toni Collette and Dave Galafassi.

After 19 years of marriage, Sage's mom shocked her fans after recently announcing that she's divorcing her father. The actress shared the news with her followers on Instagram about the separation and said the decision came after the two mutually agreed.

Sage's mother stated that their family would continue to thrive even though she was partying ways with her father. The couple, who have been married for nearly two decades, share two children: Sage, born on January 9, 2008, and Arlo Robert Galafassi, born on April 22, 2011.

Sage's Name Has Special Meaning to Her Mother

Sage's mother, who dominated the Hollywood industry from the 1990s, was known for her role in the 1999 thriller-horror film "The Sixth Sense," for which she got an Oscar nomination for her notable performance.

Other films that she starred in include: "The Night Listener," "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Muriel's Wedding." Her exemplary performance in playing motherly roles surprised many people, and yet in real life, she didn't have children until she turned 36.

When Sage's mother gave birth to her, she embraced motherhood and said that she couldn't imagine life without her. She stated that she likes spending time with her daughter because, through her, she has learned so much; she said:

"I named my daughter Sage because I felt like she was already teaching me in the womb, and she has continued to do that."

Sage's mother, born on November 1, 1972, in Sydney, Australia, got married to Dave on January 11, 2003, and the duo welcomed their daughter five years later. When Sage turned 3, her brother Arlo was born.

Sage Florence Can't Watch All of Her Mom's Movies

In an interview in 2017, Sage's mother disclosed that her kids hadn't watched some of her movies because she felt they were too frightening for their ages; at the time, Sage was nine, and her brother had turned six.

Sage's mom, who got nominated for the supernatural thriller, said she would eventually allow her kids to watch "The Sixth Sense" when they were a bit older.

Some of her other projects that she is cautious about her kids watching is the TV series "Wanderlust." In the drama series, Sage's mom plays therapist Joy Richards, a woman seeking ways to spark her marriage with her husband, Alan Richards.

Sage Had Been Shopping from an Early Age

Sage rarely appears in public, especially now that she is a teenager. But when she was ten months old, her mom was spotted shopping with her at Marc Jacobs. At age eight, Sage's parents took her and her brother to Disney world on her birthday.

Despite Sage's mother having a busy schedule, she likes to spend time with her kids, and during her free time, she takes them on road trips.

Sage's Parents Are Very Hands-on in Terms of Parenting

While speaking about her marriage during an interview, Collette said that her husband, Dave, was a loving and caring partner, and she considered herself lucky to be by his side.

She also said that Dave was a fantastic father to their two kids and that they're both very hands-on when it comes to parenting. Even though they're present parents to their kids, Sage's mother said that at times, they hired nannies to watch over their kids.

Sage's Parents Decided to Get a Divorce

Sage's parents recently announced they were getting divorced through a joint statement released on Sage's mother's Instagram page. The announcement came after Sage's father was spotted passionately kissing a woman on a beach in Sydney.

Upon learning about the affair, Sage's mother took to her Instagram to announce that she and her husband had decided to go their separate ways.
