When an orphan girl was playing in the park, she stumbled across a dog that looked like her previous pet. "Look, it's Charlie!" she said to her foster mother, unaware of how her life would soon take an unexpected turn because of the dog.

Losing her parents at such a young age was something Sophia never expected. She felt heartbroken whenever she watched her classmates' parents picking them up after school.

The little girl was only ten when her parents died in a car accident. That night, Sophia didn't get a goodnight kiss from her mother or a hug from her father. She went to bed alone, thinking about why her parents had left her so soon.

A few days later, Sophia was introduced to her foster parents. Like other children, the little girl had never thought she would have to consider someone else as her parents, but fate left her with no option.

Although her foster parents were very kind to her and cared for her needs, they could never replace her birth parents. The late-night cuddles with her foster mother, Beth, were nothing like the ones she enjoyed with her mom, and her bond with her foster father wasn't as good as the one she had with her dad.

Moreover, Sophia also missed taking her dog, Charlie, on a walk every evening with her mother. She loved playing with him and feeding him his favorite treats. After her parents' funeral, Sophia saw a group of people take him away, but she didn't know where they took him.

One day, Sophia went to the neighborhood park with Beth when she saw a dog that looked like Charlie. "Is that you, Charlie?" Sophia exclaimed and rushed to pet the dog.

"Where are you going, Sophia?" Beth asked.

"Look, he looks just like Charlie!" Sophia replied excitedly.

Beth smiled at her and allowed her to pet the dog. "He looks like Charlie, but I'm not sure if it's him. Can we give him some food?" Sophia asked her foster mother.

A week later, Sophia was feeding the dog on the street outside her house with Beth when a lady approached them.

After seeing how Sophia's eyes lit up when she saw the dog, Beth took her to the supermarket to buy her some dog biscuits. Then, Sophia went back to the park and fed the dog.

"He loves these treats as Charlie did!" Sophia smiled at Beth. "But I'm not sure if this is him."

The dog didn't respond whenever Sophia called him "Charlie," nor did he remember the tricks they used to do together, but he looked exactly like the little girl's dog.

"Can we feed him every day?" Sophia asked Beth.

"Sure, sweetheart. We will come again tomorrow," Beth replied before the pair headed home.

For the next few days, Sophia fed the dog in the street with Beth, and she felt good about it because she thought it was her dog. Feeding the dog reminded Sophia of the time she spent with her parents.

A week later, Sophia was feeding the dog on the street outside her house with Beth when a lady approached them. By looking at the unknown woman's clothes, Beth could tell she was wealthy.

"I can't believe I found you!" the woman cried after looking at the dog. She had tears in her eyes, and it looked like she had been searching for the dog. Then, her smile suddenly faded, and she turned to Sophia.

"Wait... Is this your dog?" she asked the little girl.

At that point, Sophia wasn't sure what to say. While she thought the dog was Charlie, she wasn't entirely sure if it was him. Before she could reply, Beth said, "We met this cute guy in the park, and he's been roaming in this street since then. My daughter loves to feed him."

"That's so kind of you, honey!" the woman patted Sophia's back. "You're such a wonderful little girl."

"Yeah, Sophia loves dogs!" Beth chuckled.

"That's so good to know, Sophia. I'm Margaret. I live a few streets away," Margaret extended her hand to greet Sophia.

"Nice to meet you, Margaret," Sophia shook her hand and turned back to play with Charlie.

"I'm Beth, Sophia's foster mother," Beth smiled at Margaret.

After the brief introduction, Margaret told Sophia and Beth why she had stopped by after looking at the dog. "I think this is my dog, Bruno. He ran outside a few weeks ago, and I have been looking for him since then."

"Really? How long has he been your pet?" Beth asked Margaret.

"He's been with me for about two months now," Margaret petted the dog. "He got scared of the fireworks and ran away. I looked for him on every street but couldn't find him anywhere. I thought I would never be able to get him back."

Then, Margaret showed photos of her dog on her phone, which convinced Beth and Sophia that the dog was, in fact, Bruno.

"Thank you so much for taking care of Bruno," Margaret smiled at Sophia. "You are such a kind little girl!"

After thanking Margaret, Sophia told her why she had been feeding the dog. "I thought this was Charlie, the dog my parents adopted before they passed away."

"Really?" Margaret asked.

"Yes. When I saw him in the park, I really thought he was Charlie, but he didn't respond when I called his name," Sophia looked at the ground. "I think he must be your Bruno, then. You can take him back home."

"I hope you find your dog, sweetheart," Margaret bent down and hugged the little girl.

"I don't even know where he is," Sophia shrugged. "But I will keep looking for him."

"That's the spirit!" Margaret smiled before she fastened a leash around Bruno's neck to take him back home.

"Bye, Bruno!" Sophia waved at the dog as he walked away from her. "I will miss you!" she shouted.

The little girl walked home with her foster mom, hoping she would find Charlie soon. Little did she know that soon her life would take an unexpected turn because of her kindness.

Meanwhile, Margaret walked home with her dog but noticed that Bruno was behaving differently. She thought it must be because he had stayed outdoors for many days.

Once Margaret reached home, she called Bruno into her room, but he refused to listen. Instead, he stayed in the living room and looked at the main door.

"Do you want to go out, Bruno?" Margaret asked her pet and hugged him, but he ran away.

Why is he behaving like that? Margaret wondered. She tried her best to bring him inside her room, but he didn't listen. He barked at the door, telling Margaret he wanted to go out.

"That's strange!" Margaret's husband scratched his head.

A few hours later, Margaret's husband returned home and was surprised to see their dog. "Where did you find him?" he asked while looking at Margaret with his eyes wide open.

"I saw him on the street nearby with a little girl and her mother," Margaret replied. "They said they found him at the park and kept feeding him every day because the girl thought it was her dog. She lost one a few months ago."

"I can't believe Bruno's back!" her husband exclaimed and sat near the dog. "Hey, buddy! Come here!"

Instead of listening to Margaret's husband, the dog barked at the door at looked at him. "You want to go out again? We aren't letting you sneak out anytime soon, okay?" Margaret's husband laughed.

"He's been barking at the door since I brought him back home," Margaret told her husband. "He hasn't eaten anything. I don't know what's wrong with him."

"That's strange!" Margaret's husband scratched his head.

"He hasn't done anything like this since we brought him home from the shelter."

Margaret and her husband brought the dog from a local shelter a few months ago, and the shelter authorities told them Bruno's owners had died. The couple thought he would make the perfect addition to their family since they didn't have kids.

However, this was the first time they saw him behave so differently. He had always wanted to cuddle with them and stay indoors, but he was asking them to take him out this time.

Later that night, Margaret told her husband about Sophia. She couldn't take the little girl off her mind, so she told her husband about what had happened earlier that day.

"She was such a cute little girl," Margaret said. "She lives with her foster mother, Beth, a few streets away from our house."

"That's nice," her husband replied. He was scrolling on his phone while listening to Margaret's story.

"This is a sign from God, Margaret," her husband smiled at her.

"Sophia told me she thought Bruno was her dog. Her late parents adopted one, but she couldn't keep him after they died," Margaret told her husband. "Poor girl must be missing her furry friend so much."

"Wait... what?" Margaret's husband put his phone down and turned towards her. "Her parents died?"

"Yes, she lives with her foster parents now. But why are you so shocked?"

"Oh my God! This is why Bruno wants to go out!"

"What do you mean? I don't get it."

Then, Margaret's husband reminded her that Bruno's owners had also died, and he thought the dog's owners were Sophia's parents. He believed Sophia was right that Bruno was her dog.

"Why didn't I think about that?" Margaret shook her head. "I think we need to tell the little girl about it. She must be already missing her parents so much. Having her pet back would make her feel better."

"No, Margaret. We don't need to return the dog to her," her husband said sternly.

"But that's wrong! We can't keep it knowing that it's her pet," Margaret shrugged. "Is there something else going on in your mind?"

"This is a sign from God, Margaret," her husband smiled at her.

"He brought Sophia to us through this dog. It's a sign!"

Then, Margaret's husband explained that he thought God wanted them to adopt Sophia. The couple had been trying for a baby for years but couldn't have one.

"Are you sure, honey?" Margaret asked her husband. She liked his idea but wasn't sure how Sophia would react. "I think we should talk to Sophia and Beth first."

"Let's visit their house with Bruno tomorrow," Margaret's husband said.

"Hey, Sophia! Look who's here to visit you!" Beth called Sophia when she saw Margaret and her husband standing at her doorstep with their dog.

"Hi, Bruno!" Sophia exclaimed and cuddled the dog.

"Please come inside!" Beth gestured for the couple to sit in the living room.

"We wanted to talk to you about something important," Margaret told Beth after they sat on the couch.

"Sure. What is it?" Beth smiled.

"We think this dog is Charlie, Sophia's pet," Margaret said and told Beth that his owners had died before she adopted him.

At first, Sophia wasn't sure how she would adjust to living in a new home.

"That means Sophia was right. She's going to be so happy when she learns it's Charlie," Beth said.

"Yeah, but we wanted to ask you something," Margaret fiddled with her fingers. "Do you think we can adopt Sophia? That way, she can have her dog back, and we can have a child to look after."

"You mean you want to adopt her formally?" Beth asked.

"Yes," Margaret nodded. "We have been trying for a baby for years, but nothing worked. I think we can provide Sophia with everything she needs. We'll take good care of her."

"Well, you can talk to the social services about this. I'll be more than happy to connect you with them," Beth replied.

Soon, Margaret and her husband completed the paperwork to adopt Sophia. They were excited to welcome her into their house and even got one of the rooms painted for her.

Months later, the couple was allowed to take Sophia with them.

"Welcome home, Sophia!" Margaret hugged the little girl and showed her around the house.

At first, Sophia wasn't sure how she would adjust to living in a new home. She missed her parents, but soon, Margaret and her husband made her feel comfortable, and she lived happily with the couple.

Moreover, learning that the dog she found at the park was Charlie made Sophia very happy. She loved feeding him treats and taking him out on walks like she did when her parents were alive. The little girl had never imagined her pet dog would help her find a loving family.
