Actor and musician Corey Feldman only ever welcomed one child out of all his three marriages. His youngster, Zen Scott Feldman, was raised in a "complicated family dynamic" and has been fiercely protected from the Hollywood spotlight.

Zen Scott Feldman's dad, actor Corey Feldman, emancipated himself from his parents at 15 years old after experiencing the ails of being a Hollywood child star and having caregivers that cared little about his safety and well-being.

His relationship with his parents was broken, but he took care not to mimic that relationship with his own child. This year marked Zen Scott's 18th birthday, and Corey gushed about the young man he'd raised.

He rarely made public appearances with Zen Scott, but their demeanor together always indicated a strong and loving bond. Corey, who initially struggled with substance abuse and poor mental health, even said his son's presence helped ease his depression.

Zen Scott Feldman Is the Only Son of Corey Feldman

Zen Scott Feldman drew his first breath on August 7, 2004. His dad shared a moving tribute on Instagram to the 18-year-old, expressing pride and excitement that his son had "officially become a man."

Alongside a long thread of old and new photos of his son, himself, and other family members, Corey affectionately referred to Zen Scott as "My Baby Blue Eyes," which is also the title of a song he dedicated to the teenager when he was born.

Corey continued expressing appreciation for Zen Scott's obedience and compassion "for all beings" and for being the "easiest child" a parent could raise – save for one angry call from his principal, as Corey joked – while growing up in a complex family dynamic.

After his parents separated, Zen Scott's mom, Susie Sprague, moved on to Andy Lerma, who became his stepdad. Corey also remarried his Corey Feldman and The Angels bandmate Courtney Anne Mitchell, who became Zen Scott's stepmother.

The actor acknowledged all their efforts in parenting his son before concluding with words of encouragement, telling Zen Scott to continue making wise decisions and to go out into the "big bad world" and make his dreams come true.

Zen Scott also has an Instagram account that's open to the public; however, he hasn't yet posted anything. His bio consists of what seems to be angel numbers, and his follower count sat at over 2.6K at the time of publication.

Zen Is Kept Out of the Spotlight by His Parents on Purpose

In 2020, Zen Scott's dad told The Guardian that he would never let his son join the movie business. He believed that the biggest problem in Hollywood was pedophilia and was working with the Screen Actors Guild to toughen the laws that protected child stars from such abuse.

Considering the trauma he experienced as a young star, similar to Jake Lloyd and Aaron Carter, Corey didn't want that for Zen Scott. He and Susie had agreed to keep him away from the entertainment industry as much as possible – at least until he was old enough to decide for himself – while providing a somewhat normal life for their son.

Corey Feldman Almost Lost Custody of His Son

Zen Scott's parents had been married for seven years when his mom filed for divorce. Their ceremony took place on the set of the reality TV show "The Surreal Life" and was officiated by MC Hammer.

Susie requested sole custody of Zen Scott and spousal support from Corey while citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. It's unclear how the legal proceedings unfolded, but both Susie and Corey remained in Zen Scott's life after their separation and the dissolution of their marriage.

Feldman Believes Zen Helped Him Get Out of Depression

The day after Susie filed for their divorce, Corey opened up about his depression and his tendency to be "neurotic" and "dwell on things." However, despite struggling with his mental health, his depression always dissipated whenever he saw Zen Scott's eyes and smile in the mornings.
