Savannah Steyn: The 'House of Dragon' Star Is Not into Social Media & Keeps Her Life Private
Despite Savannah Steyn's filmography still being somewhat humble, The Brit has shown her range in the sci-fi, drama, fantasy, and comedy genres.
Like the silver screen actresses of old, Savannah Steyn remains an enigma in the face of her rising profile. She has been able to keep her social media from the prying eyes of the press for most of her career, only recently opening up one of her accounts.
Even with a starring role in a Sky One dystopian sci-fi caper, the star has succeeded in evading the media, never giving more than a tiny soundbite. The London native is said to still live in the area she grew up.
Savannah Steyn Prefers to Keep to Herself despite Her Rising Fame
Savannah Steyn came into the world in April 1996 in Wandsworth, in southwest London. To date, she has mostly worked in television.
As an aspiring performer, she attended the competitive performance arts institution, The BRIT School, in Selhurst, England, rounding off her training at London's Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
She runs a tight Instagram account that used to be private, making it very hard to find and habitually clearing out old posts. Some of her dance TikToks from her closed account, @hotgyalforlifesouthldn, have made it over to her Instagram.
In October 2022, she shared the frustration of making a self-tape, a common way actors auditioned for roles during the lockdown. She showed a wide range of facial expressions in a series of images and a short clip, from pouting while holding a crystal tumbler to an exasperated facepalm.
She is also the "positive" voice behind a Nike ad and did spots for major international companies.
The actress revealed that according to her 2022 Wrapped from Spotify, she listened to "HEATED" from Beyoncé's album "Renaissance" 99 times since its release at the end of July of that year.
Savannah Steyn Is Only Starting as an Actress, but She Has Done Ads for Major Brands
Steyn had her first major acting job in the third season of the award-winning crime drama "The Tunnel."
She landed the leading role of a straight-edged cop, Ash Harper, who gets wrongfully imprisoned in the futuristic sci-fi "Intergalactic." The star did her own stunts in the show, including filming underwater.
Her most high-profile role to date has been Lady Laena Velaryon in the "Game of Thrones" spin-off "House of the Dragon" in September 2022.
Due to the big jumps in the series' timeline, Swedish actress Nanna Blondell took over the role in the character's final appearance in the HBO show.
She is represented by Yakety Yak All Mouth, a top voice-over agency in the UK. Her agency tagged her voice-over for a NESPRESSO campaign as "cream effortless."
The Londoner is also the "positive" voice behind a Nike ad and did spots for major international companies like Facebook, Clipper, and Twinnings.
Savannah Steyn Has Endeared Herself to Fans & Co-Stars Alike
Sharon Duncan-Brewster spoke about a moment on the set of "Intergalactic" when she was sitting with two other actors of color Steyn and Diany Samba-Bandza, and marveled at how incredible it was to not be in the minority on set.
Regarding gender, Shaun Fields was in the minority on that same set and said it was "a learning curve" and treat to be around strong female performers like Duncan-Brewster and Steyn.
Like the other young actors on "House of the Dragon," such as Emily Carey and Leo Ashton, Steyn made the most of her screen time and enormous wig. She got a lot of love for her work in the first season's fifth episode.
No one seemed to mind that she outshined a bride on her wedding day; an admirer said: "She's gorgeous. Stole the wedding scene, in my opinion." While most praised her for her beauty, one fan pointed out, "Her accent was really good; I really like her inflection."
