After years of hoping for a baby, the "Dancing With The Stars" professional dancers Valentin Chmerkovskiy and his wife, Jenna Johnson, finally announced the birth of their first son. Despite their persistence throughout the years, they were met with disappointment every time they saw a glimmer of hope.

In 2017, the "DWTS" winners were thrilled to hear they became the uncle and aunt of Chmerkovskiy's brother's children. That said, they were still holding out hope for a little one of their own. Luckily, the pair's long wait ended in January 2023.

Chmerkovskiy and Johnson announced the arrival of their first child with a proud post on Instagram. The announcement included a black-and-white photo of their hands folded together around their newborn's grasping fist. The caption stated, "Our world is forever changed." Before the pregnancy, Chmerkovskiy shared how excited he was to be a dad:

"You'll see me at my best is when I'm hopefully serving as a father to someone."

The performer made it clear that being a father is one of his biggest aspirations in life. Chmerkovskiy is proud of his heritage and parents, and the dancer excitedly said that he couldn't "wait to be a father."

Why Was the Couple's Journey Not "An Easy" One?

Although Johnson and Chmerkovskiy have finally welcomed the new member of their family, struggles with fertility have left them at the doorstep of despair on many occasions. The pair had difficulty conceiving for a long time.

Johnson also encouraged others struggling to conceive not to lose hope.

To Johnson's surprise, things started looking up in 2022 when she realized her body was acting irregularly. She decided to take a pregnancy test, and the results were positive. In a post that made the news public, the dancer stated that although the road was "not an easy one," she was thrilled to finally have happy news.

The video accompanying the ecstatic news showed Johnson putting her hands over her mouth in joyful disbelief. She flipped the camera to reveal all four of her pregnancy tests saying the same thing — there was no doubt she was pregnant.

She followed this post with another, revealing her husband's reaction to the news. In it, she presented Chmerkovskiy with a red and black Nike shoe box. The happy dad couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the tiny pair of shoes and the positive pregnancy test inside. The couple ended the video with a big hug and all smiles.

What about the Baby Names?

Johnson also encouraged others struggling to conceive not to lose hope. Although she endured years of disappointment, she said tenacity and hope kept her and Chmerkovskiy trying, and their unwillingness to give up is what eventually paid off. However, she acknowledges how difficult it is not to want to throw in the rope.

Johnson admitted that she and her husband had to stop trying to conceive to recuperate emotionally after all the unhappy results. On top of that, she kept seeing others announce their own pregnancies and, while she was happy for them, it stung that she couldn't have it as well.

Although Johnson and Chmerkovskiy haven't released the name of the baby yet, they did reveal that the baby is a little boy. They also noted that they have had names ready for the last three years, showing how eager they were to raise a little one together.

According to the new parents, Chmerkovskiy is the one who picked out the name for their new son, although it was never set in stone. The pair noted that they wanted to wait to see the boy in person before making any final decisions.

Johnson mentioned that she is highly influenced by visual cues, which means she might have decided to change the baby boy's name upon his arrival. Johnson also commented that she's excited to tackle the rollercoaster of parenthood with her husband and believes that he will be an excellent father.
