Milla Jovovich's daughter's acting skills are undeniable, and now her dream of acting has come true now, yet her mom said "no" first.
Milla Jovovich is an American actress known for her beauty and her penchant for action films. Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 1975, Jovovich's family left the Soviet state with nothing to seek a better life in the USA. She began working as a model at a young age to better her family's fortunes. In the 1980s, some of the young model's photos raised eyebrows for their provocative content.
But the driven actress forged on to later work for numerous fashion brands like Christian Dior and Versace. She began acting, appearing as an exchange student on the sitcom "Married with Children" and in several minor films. Her breakout role was in the 1997 film, "The Fifth Element," opposite Bruce Willis.
Jovovich's love life has also taken a circuitous route. She got married to actor Shawn Andrews at the age of 16. She was later married to the French director Luc Besson from 1997 to 1999. Speaking of her first marriage that was reportedly annulled due to her mother's efforts, the headstrong actress said:
"I was a big girl as far as I was concerned and I wanted to establish myself as an adult, as I was working like one and being treated like one by everyone else. It wasn’t about being in love."
She met her current love Paul W. S. Anderson, on the set of the first "Resident Evil" movie in 2002. The movie ushered in a season of professional success for the two, resulting in a loyal fanbase and five sequels released between 2004 and 2016.
The couple wed seven years after they began dating in an intimate sunset ceremony held at their home in August 2009. Only 50 of their nearest and dearest were in attendance as well as their firstborn daughter, Ever, who was born in November 2007.
Jovovich has been a relentless champion of her successful husband, attending premieres on his arm and promoting his projects on her social media accounts.
Jovovich and Anderson have since added two other daughters to the family; Dashiel Edan, born on April 1, 2015, and Osian Lark Elliot, on February 2, 2020. Two years before Osian's birth, the actress had sadly lost a pregnancy.
Jovovich found solace in her husband, who offered the stability and love she lacked while growing up. The actress is thankful to have the love and support of her partner, Anderson, who she calls amazing. Speaking of her long-time love, she said:
"In the end I went for the man who would take care of me and my family. Paul is an incredible dad to our daughter, Ever; he's not crazy or wild. What could be better?"
Anderson has continued to be a great father to their three girls. And Jovovich has been a relentless champion of her successful husband, attending premieres on his arm and promoting his projects on her social media accounts. She has also continued working in films such as "Hell Boy" and "A Perfect Getaway," though her main focus has been on raising a family.
The Cake and the Icing
Being a mother has been a defining feature of Jovovich's life. The doting mother has said that once she had children, she began to worry less about herself or her career. Saying that she considered motherhood to be a "full-time job" in and of itself, acting has become the icing on the cake.
The actress loves to travel with her children while she works as much as possible.
Throughout the years, she has been spotted out and about, spending time with her children at the park or on a stroll. Her Instagram is adorned by her "ladies," telling of the family's travels and adventures. She considers being with her girls to be her "happy place."
She also loves to cook with and for her family, whether she is trying a new recipe from TikTok with Ever or attempting to make a family dinner on a single hotel hotplate. In one post on Instagram, the actress shared a series of photos while holding her eye, said:
"Happy Sunday! This is for the moms who get head butted by their kids on their day off. There’s the culprit in the next shot looking very pleased with herself."
The actress loves to travel with her children while she works as much as possible. But when she has to leave them behind, she throws herself back into mom mode and leaves the world behind to shower her kids with love and attention.
An Incredible Talent
A model and budding actress, Ever Gabo Anderon is following in her mother's footsteps. Jovovich who has been in the industry for years, was at first against the idea of any of her children becoming actors. Speaking about her lookalike daughter's stint as young Natasha Romanoff in "Black Widow," Jovovich said:
“It was the most unforgettable experience as an actress and a mother to be on set with my little girl that’s for sure. But when she first talked about acting, she was only five, so my initial instinct was, ‘Noooo.’”
From a young age, the young address impressed her parents with her persistence. She learned how to read, which was the first stipulation, and was dedicated to her acting lessons as a child. When Jovovich saw that her girl was determined, she relented because her daughter had found something she was passionate about.
Ever was well aware of the impact her parents had on how the entertainment industry perceived her. As the daughter of a famous actress and a celebrated director, she felt compelled to do her best at the opportunities she has received, saying:
"I want to work hard and make my own path so that people don’t only see me as their daughter, but also as someone who has worked for it, and that I really know what I’m doing and it wasn’t just all handed to me."
Ever also appeared as Wendy Darlin in the 2022 film "Peter Pan & Wendy." She has also walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week for MiuMiu. The 15-year-old, who is a great older sister by her mother's account, has only just begun to show what she can do.
Milla Jovovich's life has not been easy. Circumstances forced her to work even before she reached her teens. But she gained confidence and independence. And she learned that family is what is most valuable to her.
