Sunny Hostin from the ABC talk show "The View" is married to an orthopedic surgeon named Emmanuel Hostin. Her husband was born in 1953 and grew up in New York City. Emmanuel studied medicine and became affiliated with some New York medical facilities, including Lenox Hill Hospital.

Emmanuel's father lost his life to COVID-19 on December 28, 2020, and his mother shortly after on New Year's Day. His wife, Sunny, felt the full force of this loss when she was incorrectly declared COVID-positive when that was not the case. Emmanuel and his wife have welcomed two children, who make them very proud.

Emmanuel Once Was on a Medical Mission

In 2010, the people of Haiti suffered severe damage when they were shocked by an earthquake that claimed many lives. In the aftermath, Emmanuel traveled to Haiti on medical missions and did whatever he could. Still, the affected could not afford to compensate him, so they would give him needlepoint pieces instead.

The locals would use the needlepoints to decorate theur houses; furthermore, it was the only thing they had to offer in exchange. According to an interview with LoHud, Hostin said that sometimes those needlepoints were the most expensive items people possessed, making the exchange all the more meaningful. Emmanuel and Sunny had the precious pieces on display in their previous home.

Emmanuel is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He qualified at the university and specialized in Orthopedic Surgery in 1984. Emmanuel is equipped with knowledge of how to deal with musculoskeletal patients and injuries in adults and children's joints.

False Positive Wife's COVID Test Had an Impact on Emmanuel

While recording an episode of "The View," Sunny and her co-host, Ana Navarro, were taken off stage when their COVID-19 test results were revealed on the live show. The TV revelation sent shockwaves across the internet; however, it was discovered that the test results were false.

Sunny and Ana tested negative many times, and the two falsely diagnosed hosts were fully vaccinated. However, the announcement did enough damage and affected her husband and their children. Emmanuel was in the middle of surgery when he found out. Sunny said:

"My husband is a surgeon, as everyone knows, and he was in the operating room and had to be pulled out of the operating room because God forbid, he's operating on someone, and he's COVID-positive. My child's school had to be notified, and she had to be pulled out. My parents had to be rushed to be tested."

Before the news broke on television, Sunny had delivered the eulogy at Emmanuel's parents' funeral on December 2020. The surgeon's parents died three days apart. Emmanuel and his children had to test for COVID, and they were also negative.

After the false announcement was made, a big chunk of the battle she faced was that she feared putting her family through another loss at the hands of COVID. She added that she does not believe Emmanuel could handle that.

Emmanuel and his wife are also parents of two. They welcomed Gabriel Hostin on August 15, 2002, and his sister Paloma Hostin on May 4, 2006. Sunny and her husband adore their children, and the TV personality often shares heartfelt posts about her kids on social media.

A few days ago, she shared that Paloma and her relay team broke the school's record for the 4x800 relay race. She added that her daughter qualified for nationals. Her team wore a matching red and blue outfit.

Sunny posted a picture of Paloma and her track mates in January this year. Her daughter is focused on athletics and has a mother that is proudly her biggest fan. She also celebrated Gabriel on his 20th birthday last year. Emmanuel's wife divulged that she could not have dreamt of a better son than Gabriel.

On another occasion, she posted a picture of her children on National Son's Day. The post had a lengthy caption discussing Gabriel's noble qualities. She mentioned that he is the most sensitive boy she knows and does not have any hate in his heart.

We have looked at Sunny's co-host Rosie Perez's marriage with Eric Haze and founder and co-host Barbara Walters's three failed marriages. It is also interesting to note that "The View" co-host, Whoopi Goldberg turned 67 last year and became a great-grandmother.
