Their Christmas Eve engagement in 2017 was a "sweet and playful" affair; the director proposed while they were wearing matching onesies. The newly engaged couple spent the rest of the intimate evening playing cards. Skau felt very safe with her fiancée:

"She's so self-possessed and supportive, and we can always be honest with each other."

Games were a vital component of the playful pair's wedding reception at a private Palo Alto house. Before indulging in a five-course dinner, the newlyweds and their guests played lawn games.

The revelry carried on late into the night with a few rounds of Taboo and Telestrations. Grant looked like a classic bride in a fitted bustier from the waist up.

There was nothing traditional about the ensemble from the waist down; the 29-year-old's turquoise pumps popped against her lace leggings, visible through the high front slit of the gown. Her bride wore an electric blue three-piece suit without a tie.

The couple parted ways sometime before the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. Grant has not spoken about the reasons behind their divorce other than joking in an interview that it "fell apart for different reasons" than heterosexual couples separate.
