How Did Their Life Change after the Funeral?

With their marriage encroaching on 72 years, numerous things have influenced Bartlett and Daniels' union. Bartlett lost her niece just before they moved to Hollywood, and the loss took a toll on their bond. While Bartlett was grieving the loss of the niece she loved like a daughter, Daniels was thinking of moving.

The couple also has a joint workout plan to keep them healthy.

At the little girl's funeral, Daniels proposed that they move into a comfortable Los Angeles home "for the summer." Bartlett was skeptical at first, preferring to raise their young boys in New York. That soon changed when they tried the house out for a month, and Daniels' agent started to find the actress heaps of jobs.

When Bartlett saw how much work was waiting for her in Los Angeles, she decided that she would stay in Los Angeles, and after a while, the doubts she had about her marriage slowly started to fade. She admitted that Daniels had been angry and frustrated that he couldn't find as much work as her, which soured the marriage.

At the time, she was waltzing into casting offices and getting jobs left and right. Daniels, on the other hand, wasn't nearly as popular. His wife opened up about how their marriage almost fell through, saying, "At one point, yes, I did think I should be married to somebody else."

Daniels was drinking exorbitantly at the time, leaving his wife to wonder whether he would come home at times. Luckily he always did. Settling down in Los Angeles helped them reconnect and build a stable environment. The two started to communicate better, and Bartlett left her doubts behind her.
