When a couple chooses to get married, they vow to be together through thick and thin. In China, a husband and wife's relationship was tested after the man met an accident while riding a cab.

The incident left the man's young daughter with no choice but to step up and care for her dad. While parents are tasked to care for their children and raise them in the best way possible, the roles were reversed for their family.

Things Went South Quickly

Tian Haicheng was riding a taxi at full speed when it crashed into a ditch. The incident left him paralyzed from the chest down, unable to work or care for his children.

Two months later, while Tian was still recovering, he suffered another painful blow when his wife of seven years left him and took their eldest son with her.

At the time, the woman claimed she was going to visit her mother for a couple of days. Unfortunately, days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, but the woman never returned with her son.

Tian had not seen his wife since, nor did he receive any divorce papers in the mail, so they were still legally married.

His Daughter Stepped Up as His Carer

When his daughter Jia Jia realized her mother wasn't coming back, she wasted no time in showing her dad some love. At the age of four, she became her dad's strength.

"She is my hands," Tian said of his responsible daughter, who assisted him without complaint, moving him around the house and helping him turn over the bed despite him being a lot heavier than her.

Jia Jia did a lot to help her father, but she couldn't do it alone. Her grandparents also tried to help whenever they could, even creating a makeshift lift to make it easier for Jia Jia to move Tian from his bed to a wheelchair.

Jia Jia Does All This While Enrolled in School

The young girl made sure to prioritize her education despite her other responsibilities. She would get up at six in the morning every day, massaging her dad's muscles for half an hour before brushing his teeth and washing his face.

When her dad is all settled, she would go to school for half of the day to learn. When she returns home, she gladly fixes dinner for both of them, then she feeds him.

While this may seem like a lot of work for such a young girl, there had been no complaints coming from her. She even admitted:

"Looking after my dad, I don't feel tired at all."

Ultimately, Jia Jia proved how wise she was for her age. She was not only independent and responsible, but she also understood her family's difficult situation.

Understanding their Situation

The young girl admitted not missing her mother because of how she abandoned them. However, she did miss her brother, whom she recalled she was once very close to.

With Tian out of work and Jia Jia still in school, the father and daughter duo rely on Tian's parents financially. Both work as farmers despite their old age.

To try and help his parents with their living expenses, Tian set up an account on a live-streaming app where he would broadcast his day-to-day life with Jia Jia, hoping to get some help from generous strangers.

The account reached hundreds of thousands of people, with followers already nearing 500,000. People were amazed by Jia Jia's sacrifices for her dad, commending her for her hard work and dedication.
