Shania Twain Fans Think She Is ‘Trying Too Hard’ to Keep Up With Younger Generation & ‘Looks Different’ at 57

Shania Twain posted on April 5, 2023, that conveying her personality and creativity through fashion is one of her favorite aspects of award shows. However, some of her early fans did not appreciate her revealing creative outfits.

The CMT Awards red carpet on Sunday saw an elegant Shania Twain in Amina Muaddi's scarlet butterfly-printed mesh bodysuit and matching draped skirt. She towered over her country peers in platform square-toe pumps from Italian shoe brand Giuseppe Zanotti.

To accept the Equal Pay Award from Megan Thee Stallion, the "Giddy Up" singer had changed into pink and purple Chanel hot pants and a plunging crop top with thigh-high Prabal Gurung boots. Country music's number one accessory, a Stetson cowboy hat, completed the sexy ensemble.

A "disappointed" Instagram user asked: "What happened to her, she used to be true to her country roots? She dresses like she's trying to hard join the young and woke ground, std has gone rogue" (sic). A fan wrote, "I didn't even know this was her! She looks so different."

Twain addressed the criticism she got for posing in her birthday suit.

Another agreed that Twain looked different, "I love her look, don't get me wrong, but if I just saw the picture of her, I would not recognize her."

One feared that Twain was taking the same "route" as Madonna, "Love Shania, but please stop trying to keep up with the youngsters and dress age appropriately."

Artist Lauren Rosas countered, "I think it's amazing and quite hilarious how enraged people are getting that you refuse to conform to their 'mom and pop' perfect Image."

A diehard fan backed up the singer, "Can people just stop telling her how she should look, according to what you want her to look like? Nobody is telling you that you need to change."

On the red carpet, Twain addressed the criticism she got for posing in her birthday suit for the cover of her single "Waking Up Dreaming" with Fox News:

"I take responsibility for my decisions, and once I make them, I've made them because I'm happy with them. So, it doesn't matter to me."

Shania Twain chatted with Hoda Kotb on "Today" at the start of 2023 about how making her new record "Queen of Me" helped her get over the fear she's had since she was younger of wearing a bikini to the beach. Now in her later fifties, she proudly sports a two-piece.
