Sharon Gabet from ‘The Edge of Night’ Is a Happy Grandma at 71 – After Welcoming Child with Autism, She Quit TV
- Sharon Gabet from "The Edge of Night" looks unrecognizable at 71!
- After the birth of her daughter with autism, the actress left television and focused on her personal life.
- Gabet didn't speak to Larkin Malloy for many years and only regained touch with him before his death.
In 1977, Sharon Rose Gabet was cast as "The Edge of Night's" Raven Alexander, and she ended up playing the character for seven years, except for a break she took for some months. The star, who'd absorbed herself in the role, stuck with it until the series' conclusion on December 28, 1984.
Raven was a bad girl before Gabet got a hold of the role and turned her into a girl fans loved to hate. Her followers were enthralled by the character, which the actress described as a survivor.

The star noted how fans loved that about the character, and Raven was someone who said what she meant, did what she pleased, manipulated, and schemed. At one point, the celebrity took a break from the role for a month but returned ready to tackle the character again.
Henry Slesar, the show's head writer, re-imagined Raven by giving her more humor and depth. The introduction of Sky Whitney, played by the late Larkin Malloy, changed things for the better on the show.

For years, Gabet was an eighties soap star who, in 1977 and 1984, had two Daytime Emmy nominations for Best Actress for "The Edge of Night." However, the actress took a turn in her career after she welcomed her third child, a daughter who was diagnosed with autism.
Following the birth of her daughter in 1990, Gabet studied holistic healing, alternative medicine, metaphysics, philosophy, spirituality, psychology, astronomy, and astrology for twenty years. Little was known of her personal life, as she left the TV limelight and directed her attention to her family and other things.

Sharon Doesn't Look Like She Did: She's Now a Doting Mother and Grandmother
By 2023, Gabet had been married twice—first, to Larry Joshua, whom she wed on June 2, 1984. The couple welcomed three children during their union before divorcing on February 14, 1997.

The actress took years before she fell in love with someone she found worthy of being her second husband, Thomas Eugene Atwell. They tied the knot on December 28, 2006, had no children, and sadly divorced on January 22, 2013.
While married to Joshua, she welcomed their first daughter, Jasmine Joshua, on November 2, 1984, and their second, Johanna Leigh Joshua, in June 1990. The star also welcomed her third offspring, James Joshua, their only son.
Jasmine became an actress and writer, while Johanna was said to be living with autism. When she was born, Gabet took the time to change and grow her focus in life away from television, explaining:
"I went on a journey and had been focusing on that for about 11 years."
In December 2022, the celebrity shared an Instagram image of her and Johanna posing in costumes. She revealed that the person next to her in the photo was Johanna, then 32, and she had autism.
The mother of three said her daughter had "little language" and would be staging a gallery show for her fantastic artwork. The star also shared how she was working on buying a property so her daughter could live independently.
Gabet revealed Johanna would have caregivers with her, as well as a daytime program with an art teacher. She also admitted it would be the first time in 38 years that she would be childless in the house.
In April 2023, Gabet uploaded a stunning Instagram picture of her most current look while hiking. The actress looked quite different from when she starred as Raven and sported long, flowing gray hair at 71.
In late January 2023, she shared another photo that gave insight into her private life. The mother of three appeared in a black-and-white image where she was seen kissing the cheek of the most adorable baby, who seemed to be her grandchild.
The pair [Sharon Rose Gabet and Larkin Malloy] went through different emotions as they rewatched old shows…
In October 2022, the star, with flawless skin and seemingly no makeup, appeared on Instagram holding her newborn grandchild, June. The love she had for her grandchild was evident in the way she looked adoringly at the child before confessing:
"I am deeply in love. It is good!"
After leaving television, Gabet worked on a different passion. However, she once spoke about her acting years, addressing the rift between her and a former co-star from "The Edge of Night."
Why Didn't Sharon Speak with Larkin Malloy for Years?
Gabet once confessed that after "The Edge of Night" concluded in 1984, she and Malloy didn't speak or see each other for over 30 years. The actress admitted that it was a peculiar transition.

The star explained that they never crossed paths while doing other New York shows until she relocated in 1993 to California. After writing a new book in 2015, the celebrity started a Facebook page and began posting episodes of the show that made her famous.
Malloy found the page and began participating in the posting, and soon enough, they were Skyping and making phone calls to each other until his death. Gabet confessed that when they reconnected, it was as if no time had passed, and their shared admiration and love were still there.
The pair went through different emotions as they rewatched old shows, and the actress was grateful for the time they had before Malloy's death. The duo had planned their California meeting, which never transpired.
Still, they had loving and deep discussions about their lives, with Gabet admitting, "I loved him dearly." The actress is now focused on her writing and working on a new project.
