Carol Burnett is an award-winning actress who became a pioneer for being the first woman to lead the hit comedy variety show "The Carol Burnett Show" when it debuted in 1967.

Since then, the Texas native has had a successful career in show business, bagging multiple awards, including a Special Tony Award and Stephen Sondheim Award.

In 2018, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association also created an award in Burnett's honor. Besides her noteworthy career, she is also a parent of three daughters – who followed in her footsteps.

Burnett welcomed her brood with her former husband, television producer, and actor Joe Hamilton, whom she was married to from 1963 until 1984.

The pair's eldest daughter, Carrie Hamilton, was born in 1963, the same year they tied the knot. Like her famous parents, Carrie became an actress and appeared as Reggie Higgins in the TV series, "Fame" between 1986 and 1987. She was also vocally talented as she joined the first musical tour of "Rent" across the US in 1996.

Carrie died at 38 in 2002 due to lung cancer and pneumonia complications. Years after her untimely death, her mom expressed:

"I think of her every day. She never leaves me. I just feel her."

Burnett and Joe welcomed their second daughter, Jody Hamilton, in 1967. Like her older sister and parents, she pursued a career in showbiz and produced her mom's "The Carol Burnett Show" (2001) TV special, "Carol Burnett: Show Stoppers."

Jody also dabbled in acting. She starred in the series, "Genesis: The Future of Mankind Is Woman," and is now a podcaster hosting the politics and pop culture podcast.

Burnett and Joe's youngest daughter is Erin Hamilton, who arrived in 1968. Erin decided to forge a path in the music industry and became a dance-pop singer. She is well-known for her 1998 song "Dream Weaver" and has opened for Whitney Houston and Bette Midler. Her last album, "One World," came out in 1999, and she has not released anything since.

Erin is the only sibling with kids, and she has two sons. She welcomed her eldest child Zachary in 1997 with her former spouse, Trace Carlson, and had her second son Dylan in 2006 with another ex-husband, Kurt West.

Unfortunately, the mother of two has struggled with substance abuse, prompting Burnett and her current husband to file for temporary guardianship of Dylan in August 2020.

Burnett Celebrates 90 after She Got Custody of Her Grandchild

In September 2020, the court granted Burnett and her spouse temporary custody of her then-14-year-old grandson. The Los Angeles Superior Court gave the comedienne and her significant other custody of Dylan until January 8, 2021. The decision came only two weeks after Burnett filed for custody stating that her daughter Erin was battling addiction issues.

She explained the move was in the best interest of her grandchild, for the betterment of his "health, education and welfare and not intended to deny him nor the parents proper visitation with one another." According to the judge's ruling, the couple could change the teenager's home and school until a hearing in January 2021.

It has been a year since Burnett got custody of Dylan, and in April 2023, she celebrated her 90th birthday over a quiet dinner with her husband and a few friends.

The writer marked the special occasion at one of her favorite restaurants in Montecito, California – Lucky's. Burnett dressed elegantly for the evening in an all-black outfit paired with a gray sweater. She wore matching black mesh ballet shoes and carried a black handbag.

The six-time Emmy Award winner and her spouse, including four others, were seen raising their glasses for a toast and enjoying several meals while laughing and conversing. Burnett received a small cake with one candle at the dining table, and her pals sang a rendition of Happy Birthday.

Nearly three hours later, the group was spotted leaving while carrying Little Golden Book honoring Burnett – who held her husband's arm as they exited the establishment. She waved to some fans who wished her well, and she seemed jolly.

On Facebook, more fans marked her birthday after the Daily Mail penned on the platform, "90 years young! Happy birthday," alongside a photo of her at the outing. Social media users commented on the post.

Burnett Reveals the Age Gap in Her Relationship with Her Husband - Who Is 20 Years Younger

Burnett celebrated her birthday milestone with her husband of two decades, Brian Miller. She and the musician first crossed paths in 1993 when she had a musical gig in Long Beach, California – where he also played the drums for the production.

Miller and the five-time Golden Globe Award winner reunited several years later despite their age gap – as he is 23 years her junior – they could not deny their connection.

Burnett once commented on the couple's age difference: "As we get older, the gap between our ages narrows. If you were 40 and married to a 20-year-old, I don't think you could communicate like [we do]."

The "Annie" star and the drummer wed in November 2001 and have been married for 21 years. Burnette gushed about her romance with her beloved husband in a 2007 interview:

"We have a terrific relationship. And I feel so fortunate at this time of my life to be with him."

The Grammy Award winner also feels good about her age but is still stunned at how fast time has passed. Despite being old, she feels like an 11-year-old and is grateful for other things.

"I'm glad because I've got all my body parts – got my hips, I got my knees, and I've got my brain, so I'm happy about that," said Burnett.
