Willie Nelson, one of the biggest names in country music, celebrated his 90th birthday by doing what he loves the most. Despite entering the 10th decade of his life, his love for music did not fade. He energized the audience with his presence.

The American singer-songwriter stepped out wearing a cowboy hat at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on April 29, 2023, for his birthday concert.

Surrounded by more than 17,000 people on a Saturday night, Willie embarked on stage with a guitar strap wrapped around his shoulder, all set to sing "Are There Any More Real Cowboys?" with Neil Young.

Among the audience were people of all ages who enjoyed the legendary country singer's performance. His amazing performance moved everyone as he sang while sitting on a chair.

His son, Lukas Nelson, performed solo on "Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground," one of Willie's best songs. During his performance, the audience could sense how much his voice resembled his father's.

When photos from Willie's birthday concert surfaced on his Facebook profile, fans couldn't stop praising him in the comments section. "Willie looks great… and so happy!!!" one fan said.

As Willie entered a new decade of his life, his children celebrated his big day by posting heartwarming birthday wishes on social media.

Lukas tweeted, "Happy Birthday, Dad!" with three photos of them, while Willie's daughter, Amy Lee Nelson, took to Facebook to wish her "Daddy" a "wonderful" birthday.

Paula Nelson also shared lovely photos with her "Papa Bear" to honor him on his big day. Meanwhile, Micah Nelson shared a black-and-white photo of him with Willie, besides other images. He expressed his love for his father, calling him his "true North Star," adding:

"Looking forward to the 100-year party."

While Willie's 90th was cause for celebration, not all his children were around to honor him. Two of his eight children have passed away, leaving the country singer devastated.

Where Are Willie Nelson's Children Right Now?

The "Always On My Mind" singer has tried his luck with marriage several times, having tied the knot with four women over the years and bearing eight children.

He married his first wife, Martha Matthews, in 1952 and had three children with her. Their eldest daughter, Lana Nelson Fowler, is now 69, while their younger daughter, Susie Nelson, is 66.

The couple's third child, Billy, would have turned 65 this year if he was alive. He had a drinking problem and underwent treatment in 1990.

Billy followed in his father's footsteps and was working with him on their latest album, "Peace in the Valley: The Gospel Truth Collection," when the unexpected happened. Willie's first son ended his life on December 25, 1991.

The tragic incident shocked the country singer, making it difficult for him to complete the album he and Billy were working on. He confessed:

"I've never experienced anything so devastating in my life."

Willie welcomed two daughters, Paula and Amy, with his third wife. Paula, 53, and Amy, 49, are a part of the music industry like their father.

The country singer shares two sons, Lukas, 34, and Micah, 32, with his fourth wife, Annie D'Angelo. The boys pursued their passion for music and became a part of the industry.

For the longest time, Willie thought he only had seven children. It wasn't until 2012 that he learned about his fifth daughter, Renee Butts.

Renee was the daughter of Willie's friend, Mary Haney, but the singer had no idea that he was the girl's father. In 2016, Renee greeted him on Father's Day by uploading a photo and writing a heartfelt caption.

However, fate only allowed Willie to enjoy five years with Renee before she breathed her last in 2017.

While Willie's children express their love for him by posting photos on social media, the legendary country singer believes he wasn't "a very good" father.

Since he spent most of his time away from his family, he felt he wasn't able to give enough time to his children, but D'Angelo disagrees.

She said that what Willie did wasn't wrong because he was fulfilling his life's purpose while working. D'Angelo added that her husband used to give all his time to his family while he was at home.

How Does Willie Nelson Spend His Elderly Years?

After enjoying a successful music career, bearing the painful loss of his son, learning about his daughter's existence, and falling in and out of love, Willie has been spending his time in a beautiful countryside log cabin.

He built his 3-bedroom Tennessee house himself at the perfect place, minutes away from Nashville, allowing access to lush green trees.

While living a peaceful life in his elderly years, the country singer has also experienced several health problems during the past few decades.

His health problems began in 1981 when he was diagnosed with a collapsed lung. In 2012, Willie's lung problems didn't allow him to attend his Denver concert.

Despite trying his best to care for his health through therapy, Willie experienced another episode of breathing problems in 2019. He had to cancel another concert because of it.

Fortunately, no reports about his health problems have come to light since then. When the world shut down in 2020 after the spread of COVID-19, the singer remained indoors and enjoyed his time with his family.

In January 2021, Willie shared a photo of himself getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Sitting inside his car wearing a mask, the singer gave a thumbs-up after getting vaccinated.

"Get your shot! Take care of yourself and others," Willie urged, playing his role in spreading awareness for the vaccine.

We hope the "Bring Me Sunshine" singer keeps thrilling his fans with his energetic performances.
