Shania Twain's plastic surgery rumors were partly sparked by weight loss that has affected the shape of her face over the years and really looks fantastic for her age in general.

Shania Twain has openly discussed getting surgery - but it was unrelated to cosmetic changes. The singer has undergone an intrusive procedure, leaving her with visible scarring.

From her first music video, "What Made You Say That," where she styled herself in a crop top sans a bra in 1993, to her empowering topless shoot for a single cover in 2022, the public has always been fixated with the country queen's looks.

Shania Twain Underwent 'Very Invasive' Open Throat Surgery

"I am not afraid of the criticism," Twain said in January 2023. Then 57, she conceded that her body "is not what it used to be," and her voice is different with "holes in it." However, she is confident in being the best that she can be.

Going on the "Graham Norton Show" in February 2023, fellow guests on the couch Salma Hayek, Johannes Radebe, and Julianne Moore, inspected Twain's neck as she spoke about the "very invasive" surgery she had. Shania Twain said of the surgery:

"I've got this scar, which I am fine with. I am very happy to have a car instead of no voice. "

The "Giddy Up" singer had to be awake during the open throat surgery and had to sing and speak while they worked on her. Hayek quipped that the medical staff just wanted a "free concert." The singer joked that her voice is "raspy" and "sexy" now.

Twain's voice had been disappearing for seven years with no explanation. It was eventually traced back to the Lyme disease that she had gotten from a tick bite which did nerve damage to her vocal cords. She has "implants" on either side of the larynx to stabilize it.

Returning to the studio to record her latest album, "Queen of Me," she had to "relearn her voice" and is grateful to have her big sound back. She said on the podcast "Making Space" in January 2023 that her "focus is more on wellbeing than it ever has been before."

Fans Are Wondering if Shania Twain Had Plastic Surgery after Her Weight Loss in 2023

In 2018, the public speculated whether the singer had cosmetic work done after appearing on "The Voice." A Beverly Hills plastic surgeon concluded that she must have used a trio of "Botox, fillers, and laser" treatments to archive the youthful glow.

When approached for a comment, a New York City dermatologist said she looked "appropriate for her age" but said she could have had some fillers.

"You don't even look like Shania Twain! What happened to her?" a Twitter user asked in December 2022, as the plastic surgery accusations started again, ramping up after the 2023 Grammy Awards. One tweeted, "That's a doppelgänger. We need to find out what happened to the real Shania Twain."

"What happened to Shania Twain? She literally looks like a different person," one person demanded, while another wrote, "What happened to Shania Twain? I didn't recognize her."

An Instagram account chronicling celebrities' changing looks did a carousel of side-by-side photos of Twain's "facial transformation" in February 2023. One Instagram user wanted to know, "What happened to her? Even her before doesn't look like her."

"One of the only people who become 'younger' in the USA by surgery, they all just get overfilled by filler or implants," an admirer wrote.

Shania Twain Said she Had No Plastic Surgery, Piercings, and Tattoos

Any procedure involving a needle that is not essential to her well-being (i.e., the dentist) started and ended when Twain was a teenager. At sixteen, her ears were pierced with studs of her birthstone, the peridot, a yellow-green gemstone. After getting a single set of ear piercings, she decided that was enough for her. She has never considered having a tattoo.

"It's like a renaissance period for me," the artist said.

Hoda Kotb asked the star in January 2023 if she would ever have plastic surgery done, and she responded emphatically, "No! I have come to a point where… no, I am not going to do it."

"Maybe that was probably part of what pushed me to go, 'OK, it's time to start loving yourself in your own skin,'" she mused, "Because sure, I've got lots of friends that have had very successful surgeries, but I've also seen others that aren't so successful."

Ironically, the time she would have welcomed cosmetic surgery is not as a 50-something-year-old woman in the public eye, but when she developed breasts early as a teenager. She explained her thought process in a 2023 newspaper interview:

"I just did not want these boobs, and I thought I wanted a breast reduction, but they settled down. I thought, 'It is a good thing I did not do that. This is how I am supposed to look.'"

Shania Twain Is in a 'Renaissance Period'

"It's like a Renaissance period for me," the artist said in December 2022, ahead of her sixth studio album launch, and added:

"To be experiencing it as a relevant artist still, that's rewarding. I feel renewed confidence. I don't have anything to prove anymore, and I feel freedom in that."

Freedom is feeling comfortable in her skin, like posing nude from the waist up for the cover art of her September 2022 single, "Waking Up Dreaming." The most fashionable thing in her eyes is confidence. She is completely unashamed of her body as a woman "well into" menopause.

Shania Twain's Tips on Beauty and Diet

With "That Don't Impress Me Much," the singer expressly states that she has not and will never go under the knife for cosmetic surgery; one needs to closely example her tricks and tips to look fabulous. This, fortunately, she shares freely.

The star product in Twain's life is olive oil. "I'll mix olive oil with any lotion for my body. I use olive oil on my face when using sugar to exfoliate," she shared. The Grammy winner will even use the healthy oil at the ends of her hair when it is dry.

Another unconventional trick to keep her mane shiny and healthy: horse shampoo and conditioner. She discovered how well equine hair care products work after she started holding her own horses and felt the effects on her skin.

During her "Queen of Me" international tour, a selection of her horses travels with her to each city. This forms part of her exercise routine.

Twain said back in 2017 that she said that she incorporated tennis into her workout routine, which she sometimes plays with her son, because it does not feel like "working out because it's a game."

While touring, Shania Twain's diet tends to revolve around green smoothies. The vegetarian travels with her blender. She enjoys a blend of avocado, apple, and coconut water when available and uses other raw greens such as kale and spinach.

In the lead-up to a show, Twain avoids dairy products because of phlegm, and before a tour, she slowly phases out some of her more indulgent foods like French fries.

Even when she is not wearing makeup, the "Man, I Feel Like A Woman" star uses skin primer as "it controls shine, and gives skin a smooth texture."

Her mental health "has many caretakers." In a 2023 video clip, she stated, "Music is one of the greatest mental healthcare aids." If she wants to feel "chirpy," it's the classic Swedish popstars Abba. Soul music like Edda James sets the tone for romance. Harry Styles, who she joined at Coachella 2022, is the "ultimate romantic, uplifting, fall-in-love music.

Focussing on others is a "great help" when the star is getting too focused on her issues and sensitivities. Twain enjoys cooking for her family, sitting with her son, or giving him a fall for a chat.
