On May 23, 2023, Andie MacDowell was seen out and about on an outing in Cannes, France. The actress chose to step out makeup-free and show off her natural beauty while in the city for the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
The legendary star wore a white striped flowy dress that showed off her figure. The outfit featured a low-cut neckline, three-quarter-length sleeves, and black and brown heels.

She walked through the La Majestic Hotel with her gray hair tied back in a low bun. MacDowell, who celebrated her 65th birthday on April 21, 2023, completed her look with black sunglasses.
In a Facebook post featuring a Daily Mail article about MacDowell's outing, which included two photos of her, social media users left comments about the actress' appearance, some saying she looked much older than her age. One person noted:
"She looks 10 yrs older than she is. Give me a break."

The same commenter suggested a change in hair color would shed years off the actress, who also elicited other comments like, "She looks older than my mum at 82 years young." The person said their mother hardly wore makeup, and her skin looked younger than MacDowell's. However, they also thought it was great that the actress had started going natural.

"To each their own," said another, recognizing that it was still okay if MacDowell didn't want to dye her hair. They felt that perhaps, MacDowell did not share their artistic nature and love for color.

A fourth Facebook user also thought the celebrity looked ten years older, but she would "look great" with a cut and hair color since she's tall and "still has a good body." Meanwhile, someone else said:
"She's looking so old. She's only 65."

While other social media users also thought the star looked years older, someone else was all for embracing aging naturally. They would rather see "real women aging gracefully than multiple 'ageless Madonna' posts with all her filters and surgeries."

Another fan of the actress also shared how "refreshing" it was to "see someone aging gracefully" and complimented MacDowell for looking so natural and beautiful.
Regardless of the negative and positive comments, the only person's opinion that really matters is MacDowell's.
What Does Andie Think About Aging?
In March 2023, MacDowell was interviewed by the former "Today" show co-anchor Katie Couric, where she addressed aging. The "Four Weddings and a Funeral" star revealed she felt it was essential to see "beauty at every age."

The actress, who's embraced her age and let her gray hair grow out during the COVID-19 pandemic, said now and then, she'd mention to someone that she was old.
The person would vehemently disagree as if it was a "horrible thing to say." In response, the celebrity would ask the person if they'd have had an issue if she'd referred to herself as young. Nonetheless, the actress acknowledges that she is old and is okay with that.

MacDowell couldn't understand why there was so much shame attached to getting older. She felt women her age were in an important and valuable time of their lives.
The "Groundhog Day" star noted that by the time women are in their 60s, they have experienced so many hardships they can't help but become more empathetic, compassionate, and understanding toward others. Thus, they shouldn't waste time feeling ashamed.

The actress said she stopped dying her hair because she thought her natural look would "suit" her face. She is content with being old, and her look makes her feel more genuine.
Once she turned 40, people began asking how she felt about growing older and knowing she would never work again in Hollywood due to her age. The star couldn't believe her ears and explained:
"We evolve, and we age, and this is part of the process. Aging is not about losing your beauty."

The former fashion model hoped to continue representing older women in the beauty industry so they could look and feel confident no matter their age. That was one of the reasons that the L'Oréal ambassador chose to go gray in 2020.
When MacDowell's hair started graying during the pandemic, her daughters always complimented her, urging her to keep it that way. She fell in love with the look because she felt more beautiful and chose to keep it.
However, the actress wasn't forcing anyone to follow her lead. And while she once considered getting plastic surgery and tried Botox before, she is now more inclined toward staying natural, except for facials.
Besides being a well-known actress and model, MacDowell is also a mother, and in 2022, she became a first-time grandmother! Her new role came with lots of joy and experiences, but there was one thing she didn't like about it.
What Is Andie's Complaint after Becoming a Grandmother?
MacDowell and her ex-husband, Paul Qualley, are parents to two daughters, Rainey and Margaret, and their oldest child, son Justin. Ahead of her 65th birthday, MacDowell shared her excitement over the chance to spend time with her growing family, including her granddaughter from her son and his partner, Nicolette.

While she is ecstatic about being a grandmother, her one complaint is not being able to see her granddaughter enough. The actress said the distance was "painful" with her son living in Montana.
In December 2022, the star spent Christmas with her granddaughter, and the pair shared a "soul-to-soul connection." MacDowell later explained how no one had ever looked into her soul like her granddaughter did.
And while she hadn't decided what her granddaughter should call her, she was leaning more toward Grandma or Nana, not Granny.

The star announced the news of her son and daughter-in-law's pregnancy in June 2022 by sharing Instagram photos of the couple. Describing them as good people who found their perfect home in the quiet of Montana, MacDowell also expressed what a blessing her son was to her and how much she looked forward to meeting her granddaughter.

She also expressed how grateful she was for her children -- the best parts of her life. She revealed how she was always learning from them, and while her job was terrific, her children were her life! MacDowell shared her pride in her children and declared the same of Nicolette.

While MacDowell has been vocal about her love for her children, the feeling is mutual. In March 2023, MacDowell was awarded the Timeless Beauty Award at the 8th Annual Hollywood Beauty Awards, and Rainey joined her mother backstage at the event, speaking highly of the actress.
She described MacDowell as an "incredible mom" regardless of her looks. She also said the actress' support and love meant the world to her.
Rainey noted how amazing it was to be surrounded by people who appreciated her mother's achievements. She stressed that beauty was more than looks, and MacDowell certainly embodies what true beauty means.
