Pat Boone Knows He’ll See Late Wife Again — He Looks ‘Fantastic’ & Made a Wish on 89th Birthday
- Legendary singer Pat Boone looked fantastic on his 89th birthday and made a wish in the company of his daughters in a beautiful video!
- Pat had a charming love story with his wife, who he fell for at 16.
- The actor revealed why he's sure he'll meet his wife again and opened up about living "alone."
Pat Boone burst onto the music scene in the 1950s with hits like "Don't Forbid Me" and "Bernadine." He was a famous musician at the same time as artists like Elvis Presley were in their prime.
While other artists enjoyed their lives as famous bachelors, Pat was quite the opposite. In fact, he met his wife Shirley Boone in his early teens and did not think twice about her during their time together.

On June 1, 2023, Pat turned 89, and his family shared sweet videos and photos from the occasion. One of his daughters, Debby Boone, shared a photo of herself, her sister, and her father at a restaurant for his birthday. She joked that nobody made 89 look better than her father.

Debby also shared a video of her father with a piece of cake, blowing out a candle, and then nodding and smiling. Lindy, Patt's other daughter, shared the same video and photo but accompanied it with one more picture of the trio smiling in front of a car.
Fans loved the photos and wished Pat a happy birthday on each post. One fan exclaimed that he looked "fantastic," and another said their mother also turned 89 this year.

How Did Boone Meet His Wife of 65 Years and Make Her Dad Cry?
Pat and his wife, Shirley, met when they were only 16, but their attraction was instant. He shared that they were very much in love, even though they were still so young.

Their courtship began soon after, but it was not until three years later, when Shirley's family planned to move away, that Pat realized it was time to ask for Shirley's hand in marriage.
Recalling the moment he approached Shirley's father to ask if he could marry her to keep her near, Pat said:
"He tearfully asked me one thing, 'Will you take care of my girl?' and I said I would. And the tears rolled into his coffee because he knew he was moving and planned to take her with him, but he was willing to leave her with me."

In November 1953, Pat and Shirley tied the knot and made their home in Teaneck, New Jersey. They welcomed four daughters in five years, whom Shirley focused on while her husband rose through the ranks as a musician and graduated cum laude from Columbia University.
The couple then moved to Beverley Hills, where they remained for 50 years. Their four girls welcomed ten children among them, and those children welcomed the couple's ten great-grandchildren.
Pat has said Shirley was most fulfilled when she was a wife and mother to her family. They were so happily married that they often went on second and third honeymoons to celebrate their love.

The couple was often asked how they stayed happily married for so long, and Pat revealed it hadn't been easy, but it helped that his wife was a wonderful woman. He also said their shared faith contributed to their remaining together:
"We made our commitment in marriage to God and to each other. We make our own decisions, but we are helped supernaturally. [I'm] willing to be led in doing the right things."

After his wife passed away, Pat was heartbroken and felt he couldn't conceive of a world without her. However, he trusted that the same things that carried them through their marriage would carry him through his grief — his religion and his loved ones.
What Did Boone Say About Meeting His Late Wife Again and What Is His Life Now?
Shirley passed in 2019 at the couple's home in Beverly Hills after suffering complications from vasculitis, which she had contracted a year before. Her husband and three daughters were by her side in her last moments.

Her family sang hymns at her bedside until, as Pat put it, "she changed addresses." Pat believes that although he and his wife had been separated, it would not be for long.
"We don't die, we just move on to another place, and today was moving day," he said, adding his wife had moved to a different mansion where he would join her one day. This thought of seeing her again and enjoying a new beginning with her took some of the heartaches out of her passing.
Pat still lives in the house he and Shirley shared and has no plans of moving even though he lives there alone with just a housekeeper and his dog, Shadow, who keeps him company when he feels upset about his wife's passing. Pat mused that he was doing okay despite missing his wife.
And while he misses his wife dearly, he has four daughters who care for him. They often post photos of spending time with their dear father on social media. In January this year, Debby shared a photo smiling with her father smiling and said she'd had an impromptu visit with her dad that day.
Debby has shared many family milestones on Instagram, including one photo of the family in 2021 marking her sister Cherry's birthday. She mentioned her father and all four sisters had gathered at Lindy's house to celebrate the special day.
Lindy also often shares photos of her father on social media. In October 2021, she posted a photo of her first grandchild with her father. She mentioned that with each addition to their family their hearts were also expanding.
In September 2022, she shared that her father had participated in a fundraising event and even spoke on stage after doing a marathon walk. It was a beautiful cause and a beautiful day. A lovely example of family love and support!
