Katey Sagal Shows Her Grown-up Daughter with Her Husband of 19 Years after She Lost Baby at 8 Months Pregnant
- Katey Sagal, aka Peggy Bundy from the popular sitcom "Married... with Children," is now a doting mother of three after she lost a baby at nearly eight months pregnant in the past.
- Her youngest daughter, whom she shares with her husband, Kurt Sutter, is now 16 years old.
- She has been married to the American screenwriter (Sutter) for 19 years.
Katey Sagal is an American actress widely known for her iconic role as the matriarch of the Bundy family in the classic series "Married... with Children" - Peggy Bundy. The show aired from 1987 to 1997 for 11 seasons.
The sitcom's plot followed the life and antics of a Chicago-based suburban family of four. Sagal starred alongside fellow actors Ed O'Neil, who played the family patriarch - Al Bundy, David Faustino, their on-screen son - Bud Bundy, and Christina Applegate, who played the on-screen couple's daughter - Kelly Bundy.

A few years ago, the four-time Golden Globe Award nominee published a memoir called "Grace Notes: My Recollections," where she detailed rarely-heard-of events that took place during her life and career. One key revelation made in the book speaks to her battle with drugs and alcohol, which became an addiction she endured for 15 years.
She spoke about how growing up in Los Angeles fostered an environment that gave her easy access to drug paraphernalia. Sagal revealed that she was first exposed to pills at the tender age of 12 years old.
The actress discussed her childhood and where she grew up, disclosing that she lived on the same street as the legendary Judy Garland. According to Sagal:
"When I was 12, we lived on the same block as Judy Garland, [and] her daughter Lorna Luft and I became neighborhood buddies. Lorna's mom had a lot of pills on her bedside table and slept past noon, just like my mom. We hung tight, and of course, I thought everyone's mom took a lot of pills."
During the promotional tour for her book, Sagal joined the hosts of "The View" to speak about the book's details. During their discussion, she made another shocking revelation that she had tragically suffered a stillbirth at almost eight months in October 1991.
This tragedy took place before she became a mother of three. To make the story even more heartbreaking, Sagal disclosed that she had even named the baby girl - Ruby.

The grief-stricken actress naturally found it incredibly hard to cope with having experienced such a painful and traumatic occurrence for a while. To add insult to injury, when she had first fallen pregnant with the baby, the writers and producers of "Married... with Children" had even written her pregnancy into the show's plot but later retracted the storyline after the tragedy. Opening up about the difficulty she went through, Sagal disclosed:
"It was a very difficult thing. I lost a child at almost eight months and... I could not wrap my brain around it."

After Suffering Such a Tragic Loss, Katey Sagal Was Blessed to Become a Doting Mother of Three
Sagal went through an insurmountable amount of devastation and could not believe the doctors when they informed her that the tragedy had been out of her control. When the tragic event occurred, her doctors explained that 60% of the time this loss happens to mothers; it is God's will.
They went on to say that there is technically no medical reason for the occurrence. However, the devastated actress could not bring herself to accept that it was not her fault.
She grappled with the nagging sense of feeling that she had personally done something to enable the unfortunate event to take place. Sagal admitted that she was unable to let go of the detrimental notion that she may have overworked herself or not taken care of her health for things to have turned out how they did.
Her grief was so extreme that she reported that she had to start making visits to doctors and even psychic healers in the times when she would rarely leave her house. She stated that the turning point of when the dark time started to waver was when she sought spiritual advice and guidance from a Buddhist friend who comforted her and helped her make peace with the situation.
Sagal has been married to "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter for 19 years after marrying in 2004.
The sentiment shared by her friend catapulted Sagal's healing process, and miraculously, she became a mother for the first time in 1994 with her firstborn daughter - Sarah Grace White. Two years later, she became a mother for the second time in 1996 with her son - Jackson White.
Eleven years later, she became a mother for a third time via surrogacy with her youngest, Esme Louise Sutter. Sagal credits having gone through her harrowing experience as the means to her becoming a mother of three in the end.

Having realized how lucky she was to become a mother to not only one child but three, Sagal stated that she has never loved anyone else more than she loves her children. In a 2009 interview with CNN, the star spoke about how many life lessons she has learned in becoming a mother:
"Being a mother has been my greatest teacher and also the most self-sacrificing thing I've ever done. I've never loved anybody the way I love my children."
Though becoming a mother has been a dream come true for the "Sons of Anarchy" talent, she also divulged how surprised she was by the whole experience. Her feelings of surprise were rooted in the fact that she experienced a new depth of love when it came to her children.
She describes a mother's love as entirely different from any other love one has for a husband, boyfriend, or friend. Sagal defines it as almost unfathomable as it is fantastic while still being risky because of the commitment one makes to love their child so deeply and intricately.
Later in the interview, she was asked how becoming a mother changed how she viewed the world and how she chose to shape the character of Peggy Bundy. Sagal answered:
"Well, I've always been a maternal type, but yes, everything was different once I had kids. Your whole perspective on the world changes. I love how I wasn't so self-obsessed anymore!"
Katey Sagal's Happily Ever-After With Her Husband, Kurt Sutter
Sagal has been married to "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter for 19 years after marrying in 2004. She met her husband during the stages of her recovery.
Similarly, Sutter was also on his own recovery journey at the time. He asked her to breakfast for their first date.
Having been wary and reluctant at first, Sagal brought her supervisor along with her on the date. Sutter amusingly recalled how, initially, his wife did not entirely trust him:
"She brought her sponsor with her 'cause she didn't trust me. And then, at some point during the breakfast, she gave the sponsor the nod like, 'It's okay. He's not a psychopath!'"
Sagal's account of the first time she met her husband is less revealing about the hesitancy she felt going out with him. Of their first date, she remembers:
"We were introduced through a mutual friend, and he asked me if I would have coffee with him sometime, and I said yes. [Back] then, I was kind of out of touch because I had my little kids and was running around with my children. And then he called me like a couple months later and asked me to coffee, and we went and kind of never left each other after that."

After deciding that he was an alright guy, Sagal and Sutter's relationship took off from there. As a creator of the show she was starring in, the couple began spending copious amounts of time not only being romantically involved but also working together.
Sutter even revealed that he had conceptualized Sagal's character - Gemma, for his wife specifically. Sagal went on to win a Golden Globe for "Sons of Anarchy."

They say no one knows someone like their spouse, and for Sagal and Sutter, those words ring true. Despite accomplishing many incredible feats throughout her career, Sutter maintains that his wife's true passion lies within her music.
He reports there being a certain excitement in Sagal whenever she gets to perform on stage, which extends far beyond her acting pursuits. Sutter says she feels at home when singing on stage.
Sagal has come a long way since her past struggles and has been happily married for nearly two decades. She and her husband enjoy being work companions and spending a lot of time together as a blended family with Sagal's two children from her previous marriage and their joint child.
