This week, Goodman appeared on the Monte Carlo TV Festival's red carpet, looking thinner than ever. Yet fans quickly criticized Goodman's new look when the story was posted on Facebook.

How Did Goodman Lose The Weight?

While some fans debated whether he looked better now that he had made this transformation, others wondered how Goodman had shed the weight and managed to keep it off for as long as he had.

In 2016, Goodman believed he weighed somewhere close to 400 lbs when he decided to change. While he was usually able to lose a lot of weight in three or four months, but usually put the weight back on quickly. He shared:

"Then, this time, I wanted to do it slowly, move, exercise. I'm getting to the age where I can't afford to sit still anymore."

Goodman said that exercising and eating better had also given him the energy to work, which he found draining. He decided to lose weight once and for all when he no longer wanted to look at himself in the mirror.

The actor also hired a personal trainer, Mackie Shilstone, who combined diet and exercise to help him lose weight and keep it off. Shilstone revealed Goodman's weight loss had been an ongoing process and did not happen overnight.

Shilstone also advised Goodman to follow a Mediterranean meal plan comprising fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish, and olive oil. The actor exercised six days a week and walked between 10,000 and 20,000 steps daily.

However, Goodman made a more significant change ten years before starting his weight loss journey. Goodman struggled with alcoholism and stopped drinking for a decade before making this transformation.

The actor admitted that although he was being hired for many roles, he drank while at work. He confessed:

"My speech would be slurred. I thought I was fooling people. My cheeks would turn bright red when I was liquored up. I just looked like a stop sign."

It all came to a head when he missed a rehearsal for the 2007 Emmys after drinking all weekend. The actor had been drinking since Friday, and when he woke on Sunday, he was shaking, yet he still reached for another drink.

He knew then that he needed to be hospitalized, so he phoned his wife, an experience he likened to "turning [himself] into the Gestapo." Goodman's wife called and got him into a treatment center that day.

When Goodman arrived at the treatment center, he had to detox and found that he liked the feeling of it. After he came out of the treatment center, he did not touch alcohol again and began living a healthier lifestyle with his family by his side.

Anna Beth spent a few years in Los Angeles and then moved to New Orleans. She made regular trips from New Orleans to Los Angeles and back. During this time is when she met Goodman.

Goodman and Anna Beth met at a Halloween party at Tipitina's in 1987. He was working on the 1988 film "Everybody's All American" then. The pair tied the knot two years after meeting.
