Born on January 10, 1945, in London, England, "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" singer Rod Stewart rose to fame in the 1970s with several hit singles to his name. Since then, his electrifying performances have entertained fans for decades.

Now 78, the singer-songwriter, who has dated many women and tied the knot thrice, is living with his third and long-time wife, Penny Lancaster, whom he wed in 2007.

With a series of health problems, Stewart's kids are reportedly worried and want their father to retire. In response to the commotion regarding his alleged retirement, Stewart released a statement revealing his intentions for the future of his career.

What Did Rod Stewart's Kids Say about His Career?

Reports have recently emerged that some of Stewart's children allegedly want him "to throw in the towel on his music and retire on his own terms." They wish for the rocker to spend time with his family and concentrate on his health instead.

After the singer opened up about prostate cancer in 2019, he had to undergo two surgeries―ankle fusion and knee replacement. Stewart had struggled with cancer for three years before he fully recovered.

In his recent "BBC Breakfast" interview, the "I Don't Want to Talk About It" singer talked about his plans, saying, "Everything has to come to an end sooner or later."

He also revealed that he "wanted to leave all the rock 'n' roll stuff behind" because he was interested in exploring other genres. He said he wasn't retiring.

While the singer plans to make good music for his fans, his family allegedly thinks he should pull the plug on his career after finishing his upcoming music tour. They believe he has worked enough years and needs to focus on other things.

What Did Rod Stewart Say about His Retirement?

With a career spanning over half a century, Stewart still plans to keep his fans entertained through his energizing on-stage performances. Despite facing health problems and growing old, the rocker doesn't want to stop.

"I'm not going to do rock 'n' roll tours anymore," the singer stated. However, quitting a specific genre of music tour did not mean he was ending his career. He said he wouldn't retire because that wasn't "in his blood."

When the host asked him about his music tours, Stewart said he loved what he did, except that his work made him stay away from his children. He also revealed the secret to his fitness―a trainer who helps him work out up to four times a week.

To further clear the confusion regarding his career and retirement, Stewart took to his social media to keep his fans updated. He clearly stated that he would "never retire" before explaining his plans.

He stated that he would move towards band/swing music after finishing his tours that are already planned this year. The "Forever Young" singer was excited to share his new project with his fans.

While stating he wasn't quitting his career, Stewart explained his feelings about his songs. He said his albums were as dear to him as his kids, and he would never stop singing them. It was just that he wanted to switch to a different genre now.

Stewart's Facebook confession grabbed his fans' attention and has gained over 40,000 likes and more than 4,000 comments. Some netizens expressed their feelings for the singer in the comments section, while others thanked him for addressing the issue.
