Salma Hayek Posts Pic with Animals & Fans Ask If She Is Holding a 'Rabbit or Blanket'

On Friday, Salma Hayek got unexpected bad reviews – for the way she was holding a rabbit. "It is rabbit or blanket," a social media user enquired.

"While we celebrate World Wellbeing Week," Salma Hayek posted on June 30, 2023. "Let's not forget that it's also Rabbit Awareness Week, and spending time with animals is very healing."

In the accompanying image, Hayek is holding a rabbit in one arm and rubbing the head of a German Shepard at her feet. "Why does the bunny look like it's a flat blanket," one quipped.

"Salma... the rabbit doesn't look like it's healing," one jibed, while another said, "That rabbit is real? Looks [like] something [is] wrong with him."

"The bunny looks like a towel they she's holding on to it lol," a person wrote about the woman who at one point had 30 animals at her sanctuary.

Most of Hayek's pets are rescued, not from a shelter, but from the street. She can't help but take in orphaned dogs on her travels worldwide. Her husband has extracted a promise from her to stop bringing home stray animals.

The animal lover brought a photo of her ninth dog, Ocha, named after Mexican soccer star Guillermo Ochoa, to Jimmy Fallon in 2015. Ocha found her while she was filming in Bulgaria.

She "came up with a brilliant plan" to soften her husband up before telling him about the new pup – do a bait-a-switch that she is having an affair. But as she laid on the story thick over the phone, he caught on quickly and said, "Oh, please don't tell me you have picked up another dog!"

The fur mama used to take a selection of her dogs, up to five, along with her when she traveled. She convinced a hotel in the Bahamas to allow her to keep her dogs on the property during a shoot, she told Ellen DeGeneres in 2017.

On this occasion, she only took two furry companions. After returning late from shooting, she eventually found the dogs crashing a wedding. They were sitting at the cake table, taking chunks of pastry as the bride cried. On Salma Hayek's whistle command, they immediately dashed off.
