Patti Harrison, a rising star in the comedy world, has talents that have earned her awards and nominations, but her path as a trans woman in comedy has not been without challenges. She has also candidly opened up about her dating life and the challenges she faces with social media.

Patti Harrison is a comedian, actress, including voice acting as well as a writer, who has also worked in production. Some individuals may recognize her from "Together, Together" and her voice from "Big Mouth."

She has also won two awards, one for writing and one for acting. She has been nominated for three other awards. Although she speaks openly, when it comes to her personal life, Patti Harrison has kept it tightly under wraps.

Patti Harrison on Comedy and Being a Trans Woman

Harrison spoke about being a trans comedian, stating that she has felt the need to erase that aspect from her comedy for many reasons, including that comedy is a place to escape from serious social issues. She stated:

"The lived experience is so political whether you like it or not. There was a time where I felt like in order to build my career up; I was taking advantage of people's interest in this, then feeling resentful."

The actress has also expressed that she felt as if she were pandering to this push for political comedy and that social media was amplifying the pressure.

During quarantine, Harrison spoke more about social media and comedy. Referring to Instagram specifically, she stated that it is not the space that she would approach with her brand of comedy and her type of humor, expressing:

"I think some people really thrive in it. And so many people are on Instagram that it is instantly accessible for people to make more stuff. So if other people like watching Instagram Lives as a source of comedy, then it's great."

Patti Harrison on Social Media and Mental Health

The actress spoke up about taking care of her mental well-being regarding Instagram and social media. She had noticed that she was constantly on the platform and comparing her life to those online. Harrison stated:

"Oh, at the end of the day, [Instagram] is a device that is like a vehicle for advertising."

She stated that even before the pandemic, she had already been on the application too much and that quarantine had increased her use. Her Instagram page does not reveal much about her life, as it lacks pictures of significant personal content.

Patti Harrison on Dating Apps

Her disdain for applications goes beyond Instagram; during the pandemic, Harrison also spoke about the popular dating application "Raya." The comedian said:

"Raya's a nightmare. But if you want to find psychopath 'Vice' bros where it's like, ‘Yo, I'm an assistant digital editor at Vice and I love Bjork and I hate trans people, but I would love to take you on a coffee date and pick your brain about me stepping on you to get all your industry connections…'"

She has worked with big names in the industry, such as Nick Kroll, Ed Helms, John Mulaney, May Calamawy, Jessi Klein, Jordan Peele, and more. Outside of her work relations, the entertainer hasn't been publicly linked with anyone.
