Robert Wagner has had a long-standing acting career and the opportunity to work with various renowned actors. As a way to honor his late wife, Natalie Wood, and other legendary female actors, Wagner wrote a book, "I Loved Her in the Movies: Memories of Hollywood's Legendary Actresses."

In addition to working with Wood, Wagner also saw actresses like Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe in action. But out of all the women he worked with, Wood had the most impact on him.

Wagner and the actress had a rollercoaster relationship. They were married, divorced, and married again. Together they raised Natasha, Wood's daughter from her union with Richard Gregson, Katie from Wagner's second marriage with Marion Marshall, and Courtney, whom they welcomed together.

After giving their marriage a second shot, the family was struck by tragedy when Wood died in a drowning accident off Catalina Island in 1981. The death left Wagner and his daughters distraught, and at one point, the actor did not think he would survive the loss. He expressed:

"When Natalie died, I thought my life was over."

Wagner is also an adoring grandfather. He wished one of his granddaughters a happy birthday on his Instagram and shared a sweet picture of them smiling. Fans in the comments section gushed over how much the granddaughter resembled Wood. "... she looks just like Natalie and Natasha," remarked a commenter.

Robert Wagner's Response to the Accusation of Being Involved in Natalie Wood's Death

Aside from dealing with the unexpected death of his wife, Wagner was also named a person of interest by the police investigating Wood's death.

The actor was quiet about the allegations for a while until he broke his silence through his spokesperson. "They are despicable human beings, capitalizing on the accidental death of a beloved member of the Wagner family," said the actor's representative.

When the actress died, Wagner and Wood were on a family yacht and were joined by fellow actor Christopher Walken and the boat captain Dennis Davern.

The statement released by the "It Takes a Thief" star's spokesperson was reportedly directed at Wood's sister, Lana Wood, and Davern for accusing the actor of being involved in the actress' death.

However, the people who always believed in Wagner's innocence were his daughters. Natasha worked on a documentary in honor of her mother titled "Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind."

She said her father did not show any signs of hesitation when she asked him to be part of the documentary and share some of his memories of Wood. In fact, Natasha was proud of how courageous Wagner was throughout the process. The 52-year-old gushed over her father and said:

"I was just so proud of him. I felt like he was so transparent, elegant, gracious, emotional, connected, and present."

Natasha has never shied away from standing by Wagner's side. She has expressed how much he has inspired her, but she felt even more connected to him while making the documentary. "He's one of the great loves of my life. He moves me every day, and he deeply moved me on those days [of filming] for sure," said Natasha.

Wagner's social media is filled with special moments with his family. The actor shared one video where he celebrated his birthday and expressed how much fun he had spending his big day surrounded by family.

He's also a doting grandfather and does not miss a chance to show off his beautiful grandchildren. Wagner and his daughters have grown their families and maintained a close relationship through the ups and downs they experienced.
