'Female Version of Her Father': Reese Witherspoon Loses in Twinning with Daughter Ava to Ryan Phillippe

Reese Witherspoon enjoys being mistaken for her daughter Ava Phillippe, but her comment section mistook the model for someone else in her family tree this weekend.

"Perfect Summer night with my girl [Ava Phillippe]," Reese Witherspoon captioned a carousel with her daughter on Sunday at an Oceana event.

The mother-daughter duo wore boob tube dresses, Reese's in light mint, and Ava's white with a drop-waist. "Why do you'll always say TWINS?" a commenter asked. "They're both very beautiful women, but Ava is the twin of her father."

"Naaa, she is the female version of her father," another contradicted previously held opinions, echoed by a third, "Ava is a copy of her dad." A fourth agreed, "She looks like Ryan a lot."

Instead, many saw the similarities between the "Sweet Home Alabama" actress and her eldest son, Deacon Phillippe. "Deacon looks just like Reese," one wrote. Another mused:

"Ava looks like her dad, but Deacon is mama's twin, sure."

"Well, I love being mistaken for her because it makes me feel so young," Reese told Gayle King in an interview. "I'm so proud of her," she said:

"She really rolls with it. I'm sure it's not easy looking exactly like your mother."

When the comparisons do get to Ava, her mom recommends she talk to Zoë Kravitz, who is also seen by some as her mother, Lisa Bonet's twin. Last year over Thanksgiving, Eva shook off some similarities to her parents when she briefly dyed her hair orange.

Reese had Ava Elizabeth Phillippe on September 9, 1999, with her first husband, Ryan Phillippe, followed by Deacon Reese Phillippe on October 23, 2003.

Reese and her second husband welcomed their son Tennessee James Toth on September 27, 2012. The "Wild" actress admitted on a talk show in 2020 that she had been "terrified" when falling pregnant at 22 regarding finding a life-work balance.

Reese Witherspoon confided in Ellen DeGeneres that after Ava left for UC Berkeley, she cried in her daughter's room but was relieved to know that her daughter would return. The twenty-something has dated a fellow Berkeley student, Owen Mahoney, since 2019.

Ava has modeled for her mom's Draper James, Beyoncé's label Ivy Park, and Pat McGrath. On her 23rd birthday, Reese wrote a sweet tribute to her "favorite daughter," saying she was inspired by the model's "gigantic heart, generous spirit, and endless creativity inspire."
