After growing up a surfer on the beaches of Australia, Walker spent most of his adult life in India and the Himalayas, where he studied various forms of meditation and spirituality after wondering if there was more to life. He said:

"I was looking for guidance; it's that simple. I was in a mess, and everyone around me looked like they were in a mess too, so I started asking, who's got the wisdom? [...] I'd realized that Buddhism seemed to have the best structure for me to learn, so it was then just a matter of finding a good teacher."

However, since realizing he wasn't "monk material," Walker has spent two decades traveling across Asia, learning and mentoring. "I am only scratching the surface. A journey that no doubt will consume the rest of my life in travel, study, and practice, but as one elder said to me, once you open the door, you can never go back," Walker shared.

In 2015, Walker and Farahani wore smiles as they posed for a rare photo together, and the following year, they made their public event debut as they attended the opening season gala at Opera Garnier in Paris together.

Despite their reserved nature as a couple, around the same time they sparked romance rumors in 2016, Farahani admitted to having a husband when she said, "[...] home is always home, but now home is when [...] I'm spending time with my husband." The actress further shared about her unnamed husband during an interview and said:

"I prefer to eat mostly vegetarian, but I'm not strict. [...] Do you know about cordyceps? My husband goes to Bhutan a lot, so we get those worms, and it's one of my favorite things. [...] This worm that turns into a plant."
