Sordid Allegations Were Made against Michael Jackson during the Height of His Fame

Jackson captured the hearts of countless individuals around the world: his talents and kindness mesmerized millions. However, accusations brought forward against the musician in 1993 and 2003 alleged that he performed horrifying misconduct on minor boys.

Additionally, precisely ten years following his demise, a two-part, four-hour-long documentary, "Leaving Neverland," spearheaded by two men, James Safechuck and Wade Robson, revealed unimaginable actions done by Jackson. Safechuck and Robson, whom Jackson befriended as children, alleged that the star had abused them during childhood.

Though their allegations only came out four years ago, rumors about Jackson performing inappropriate acts upon underage boys started swirling years before his death. In 1992, the "Bad" artist befriended a 13-year-old boy named Jordan Chandler. A year later, the boy and his family (sister and mother) began making frequent trips to Jackson's Neverland residence and would travel to different countries with the singer.

Throughout this period, Chandler's family confirmed that Jordan and Jackson would often sleep in the same room together. Detecting something amiss with the situation, Jordan's father, Evan Chandler, started building a case against Jackson and sought to file either a restraining order or custody lawsuit against him, despite Jordan initially denying being molested by Jackson.

Jackson's former cleaner disclosed that he had even called her one day to find out what she knew after he suspected she had caught on to what was happening after his deposition.

However, in mid-July 1993, Evan disclosed that his son confided in him about the lewd acts Jackson would engage in with him on many occasions. By August, Evan had demanded $20 million from the artist in exchange for not outing him in public. After Jordan sat down with a psychiatrist, Dr. Mathis Abrams, and revealed what happened to him, Abrams alerted the police.

An investigation conducted by LAPD's Sexually Exploited Child Unit began looking into the allegations made. Police executed several search warrants of Jackson's many properties but failed to find anything incriminating enough to support a criminal filing.

During this time, friends and family of the artist defended his character, which included Robson and another teen named Brett Barnes. Though the boys admitted to sharing the same bed as Jackson, they claimed nothing inappropriate happened.

After the Chandler family sued Jackson for $30 million and another underage boy made an allegation against the King of Pop, police performed a strip search on the star. In 1994, following Jackson's settlement with the Chandlers, grand juries presented with testimonies from the Chandler family declined to indict Jackson.

By the time the timeline of alleged abuse reached February 2003, British journalist Martin Bashir had recorded a documentary, "Living with Michael Jackson." In the documentary, Jackson spoke about his friendship with a young boy, Gavin Arvizo, who had cancer. As the two held hands and talked about the sleepovers they had (which was a regular occurrence with all his young guests), Jackson disclosed:

"It's not sexual, we're going to sleep. I tuck them in... It's very charming, it's very sweet."

With the documentary having sparked outrage, a revitalized interest began in the initial allegations made. In December of that same year, Jackson was charged, and in 2005, his criminal trial began, and after a few months, Jackson was found not guilty on all charges. Four years after Jackson died, Robson came forward with his own abuse allegations and sued the Jackson estate, and a year later, so did Safechuck.

In the 2019 documentary, both men claimed that Jackson had begun abusing them at very young ages. Safechuck disclosed that Jackson had even held a private mock wedding ceremony where he was gifted a wedding ring. He also alleged that Jackson would make them practice drills whenever someone would be about to walk into the room during inappropriate acts.

Michael Jackson's Former Maid Revealed Shocking Details about What Went on inside Neverland

Robson and Safechuck were not the only two people coming forward following Jackson's passing. The star's former housekeeper, Adrian McManus, who worked for him for four years, sat down to give a tell-all interview about what she witnessed in 2019.

McManus said she saw different sides to the usually shy, late popstar and spoke about his dark side as a manipulator. When she started working for Jackson, McManus said that the star deemed her work excellent, despite her feeling she wasn't a great fit.

She said that he made it clear that loyalty meant everything to him. While speaking about working at Neverland, McManus expressed:

"The first time I cleaned his bedroom, I didn't even know where to start."

Footage from Neverland showcased Jackson spending copious amounts of time with children. McManus described the first time she noticed something unusual about Jackson's unhealthy fascination with kids when she saw that the only guests visiting the star and hanging out at the Dinsey wonderland-inspired home were little boys. She said that when they arrived, the boys would put their belongings straight in his room.

McManus also said she witnessed Jackson taking baths with them, in addition to sleeping in the same bed. The mornings after the sleepovers, McManus claimed that when she would clean Jackson's room, she would find dirty underwear sprawled across the space.

Jackson's former cleaner disclosed that he had even called her one day to find out what she knew after he suspected she had caught on to what was happening after his deposition. Further on in the interview, McManus stated:

As a result of her fear of the popstar and the alleged threats she received from staunch supporters, McManus did not speak out about what she saw and revealed that Jackson had gifted her $300 and a thank you note for showing loyalty to him. She also detailed that she was left without any money from her four years of employment.

Although she and other employees sued Jackson, citing wrongful termination, they lost the case. The artist's estate also sued her, claiming she had stolen belongings from the residence and sold the items to the media.

McManus still owes the Jackson estate money to this day, and despite her testimonials and allegations being questioned, she maintained that she is telling the truth and can sleep well at night, having come forward eventually.

Die-hard fans of Jackson have also looked at Robson and Safecuck's revelations with suspicion, and some refuse to believe the allegations altogether.
