Mom Picks up Little Son from Day Care, Finds Him Shivering after Being Locked in Dark Room Alone for Hours

Mother Kendra Jordan Shocked by What She Finds at the Daycare

On August 10, 2023, a mother going by the name Kendra Jordan dropped her one-year-old son, Kay'vontae, at Amazing Mays Child Daycare in the afternoon.

As was routine, she went to fetch him at the usual time, which was half an hour before the daycare officially closed, 11:30 at night. But when she got there, Jordan found out that she couldn't get into the daycare to fetch her child and that no one was there to answer her knocks.

The mother was prepared to wait for a while, but after twenty minutes had passed, she was officially worried.

Amazing Mays Child Daycare initially remained tight-lipped following the traumatizing incident, with zero answers for the mother.

She stated that she initially tried to contact the daycare. But with no one answering, Jordan eventually decided to call the police for assistance.

The mother recalled that her mind had thought of the worst possible outcome:

"The first thing that came to my mind: Either he's in the building, or somebody took him."

The owner eventually arrived hours later, in the early hours of the morning, and brought the 1-year-old out of the daycare who was teary-eyed and cold. Jordan expressed that she felt cheated by the daycare and spoke about imagining her son's experience: "... he's crying for his momma, and I'm not there."

Kendra Jordan's Mixed Emotions

The mom expressed how happy she was at having her little one by her side again. Talking about the mixture of emotions surrounding the situation, she stated:

"I felt like I couldn't be his superhero.I grabbed him, and I hugged him tight because the situation could've been so much worse."

Law officers have fully established that the young boy had been left inside the daycare alone, and it was last reported that the mother is looking for legal help.

Amazing Mays Child Daycare Owner Releases a Statement

Amazing Mays Child Daycare initially remained tight-lipped following the traumatizing incident, with zero answers for the mother. However, the owner eventually released a statement claiming that night staff had left Kay'vontae by himself inside the daycare. They stated:

"I was alerted by the child's aunt an hour later and, within about 40 minutes of travel time, arrived on scene to unite the child with their parent."

The statement said that the child did not get hurt and that the incident was isolated. The owner then went on to claim full accountability for what occurred.

The statement said that the daycare is dedicated to providing a safe and fun space. It went on to read:

"As unfortunate as this situation is we are forced to do an immediate closure during the investigation process. We do not have a time limit or direction to where this situation may lead AMCC, but we are truly thankful for the families we served in the past 7 years."

The owner then wished luck to the many other parents whose children were in the daycare, hoping that they find a good kindergarten for their children to attend in the interim. Finally, they offered their apologies to the family affected.
