John Lennon and Paul McCartney had a sweet, tight friendship and irreplaceable bond. The two met on July 6, 1957, at St. Peter's Church in Woolton Village. At this time, John was in a skiffle band, The Quarrymen, that played at the church.

During this meeting, a mutual friend introduced John and Paul. After a few months, Paul joined John's band, which had ventured in another direction, with its name changed to The Beatles, and its genre switched to rock 'n' roll.

Paul and John were songwriters in the band. However, that wasn't their only connection as they bonded over the trauma of losing their mothers while they were young. John's mom, Julia, died when he was 17. A speeding car hit her in July 1958. Meanwhile, Paul lost his mom, Mary, when he was 14. She died in October 1956 from breast cancer.

Paul confessed that he and John had a kind of bond that came from knowing they both lost their mothers at tender ages. John also said Paul was like a brother to him because even as they had their ups and downs, he would do anything for him. Paul shared the same sentiments, noting that their friendship and bond were irreplaceable.

However, Paul and John's friendship turned into rivalry, which eventually contributed to the end of The Beatles. The band broke up in 1970 due to several heated arguments among its members, contract disputes, and creative disagreements.

After John wrote Paul an angry letter, the two began to reconcile when, on March 28, 1974, Paul dropped by unannounced to visit John at Burbank Studios. The friends continued to speak to each other until John's death.

John died in 1980 after he was gunned down near his Dakota home in New York City. Paul said it was sad that he would never hang out with John again and noted that the two had such a deep relationship.

However, he revealed that he had lots of good dreams about John. "I love it when people revisit you in your dreams," Paul added. His friendship with John also led to the uncle-like relationship he developed with John's son, Julian Lennon.

Paul's Warm Relationship with John's Son

Paul and John's son Julian were close. John shared Julian with his first wife, Cynthia. He was born before "The Beatles" became a household name in the US and grew up during the band's days of fame.

Julian confessed that he had a close relationship with his dad, but when John fell in love with Yoko Ono, father and son grew apart. Paul saw the shift in their relationship and, in fact, wrote the song "Hey Jude" to encourage Julian to welcome Yoko as a new family member.

Paul noted that he wrote the song because he felt sorry for kids affected by divorce. John and Cynthia divorced after ten years together, and Julian was only five at the time.

Today, Julian seeks to build a name for himself and prove that he is more than John's son. His album "Jude" opened a new chapter in his life.

Julian later said that he felt closer to Paul than he did to his father. Paul and Julian would hang out a lot. Julian noted that there seemed to be more pictures of him and Paul playing than him and his dad. John was also aware of the great friendship Paul and Julian had, and he stated that Paul was like an uncle to Julian.

Years later, as an adult, Julian admitted that the song "Hey Jude" would sometimes be a dark reminder of how his dad walked away from him and his mother, leaving them to fend for themselves. Julian added that after his dad left, his goal was to take care of his mom and make her proud to date.

In November 2022, Paul and Julian bumped into each other at an airport and shared a selfie of their reunion on X, formerly called Twitter. Julian called Paul "Uncle Paul" in the photo's caption.

Julian, who is also an artist, posted another picture of Paul holding a mobile phone that showed the cover of "Jude," the younger Lennon's album that was released in September 2022.

Despite sharing a picture of them smiling, Julian had previously accused Paul of snubbing him and his mother when he didn't invite them to his two wedding receptions in London and New York in 2011.

On October 23, 2022, Julian posted on his personal Facebook that Paul and the rest of The Beatles members never invited him and his mother to their social events. Julian pointed out that Paul had snubbed him by not extending an invite to his wedding and wedding reception.

A day before Julian shared this post, Paul had thrown a luxurious wedding reception in New York City after marrying Nancy Shevell. Julian said he thought he had a relationship with Paul and the rest of the members, but it seemed he was mistaken. He wrote:

"I was not invited to ANY of these events...(…) Gimme some truth... Maybe now it's time to tell the Truth... I & My Mother will not be eradicated from History... How Dare They."

Meanwhile, John's son with Yoko, Sean, attended all of Paul's events that Julian claimed he wasn't invited to. Sources later claimed that Julian wasn't invited to Paul's wedding because people assumed he was in Spain, but it turned out he was in New York.

Julian removed his Facebook post shortly afterward, and a representative of Paul refused to comment on the issue. A few years after this incident, in April 2015, Julian lost his mother, Cynthia, at the age of 75. According to a representative, Cynthia died at home in Majorca, Spain, with her son by her side.

Today, Julian seeks to build a name for himself and prove that he is more than John's son. His album "Jude" opened a new chapter in his life. He chose the name "Jude" for his album to take ownership of the name and to signify all he had been through since Paul released "Hey Jude."

Julian also set up the outfits, guitars, and song notes of the song "Hey Jude" for digital sale as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). John's son, who no longer wants to be a version of his father, now holds his head high and believes he can achieve anything he puts his mind and heart into.
