Sandra Bullock is one actress who's achieved a lot in her career, including accolades from the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The star is a fantastic and in-demand actress, with ten movies making her the most profit, earning her a combined amount of over $150 million at the box office!

One of these movies is based on an actual story. 2010's "The Blind Side" saw Bullock playing the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy, a Southern mother who adopted a teenage boy named Michael Oher. Oher became a first-round NFL draft pick in real life and the film.
While acting is her passion, and she's incredibly good at it, one of the most critical roles in Bullock's life and outside her work is being a mother. In March 2022, Bullock showed how much she valued that role when she confirmed that she was taking a step back from her career to spend more time with her family. The celebrity admitted that she wasn't sure how long her break from acting would be but she needed to be in a place that makes her "happiest."

The actress, mother to Louis and Laila, revealed that she took her work seriously when doing it, and it was a 24/7 job. However, she wished to be with her children and family for that amount of time too, adding:
"That's where I'm gonna be for a while."

Bullock planned on servicing all her children's needs and social calendar. In May 2023, a source said the 58-year-old star has always been hands-on with her children at home, but since stepping back from her career, she has become more active at their school.
The insider revealed how the "The Lost City" actress "is everywhere" her children needed her to be. She allegedly volunteers to chaperone, is involved with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), helps at the children's schools, and is heavily involved in their lives.
Becoming a mother was an exciting journey for Bullock, who was glad to do it as a single parent. A natural disaster was involved in the actress making the difficult decision.
How Did Sandra Become a First-Time Mother?
Speaking to Hoda Kotb in 2018, Bullock revealed that she knew from age 17 that being a mother was her "purpose" and not acting. That being said, her main concern is the well-being of her children and meeting their needs.

The star wanted to be there for each moment, and that year, she confessed that it was harder for her to leave them than it was for them. So she didn't leave or work that much. Speaking about her son, she gushed:
"I have the greatest gift in little Louis, and I'm gonna let him see the woman I want him to know."
Bullock admitted that having children forced one to get their things in order in the best way. The "Oceans 8" star had pretty much given up on being a parent in her forties when 2005's Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and changed everything.

The actress shared how "weird" it was that she knew then, as if something told her, that the child she wanted was in New Orleans. She eventually finalized the adoption at the same time as she divorced her ex-husband, Jessie James.
During the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards, the celebrity won the first Golden Popcorn award for the Most Frightened Performance for her role in "Bird Box." She made a touching dedication to her children in her acceptance speech. The celebrity said she wanted them to know:
"Sometimes you're born into a family, sometimes you need to go find it, sometimes it finds you..."
"...But no matter how it comes together, when it does, family is what you fight for. Family is what you protect. And what you saw in that movie is what mommy would do for you," she added. In a past interview, Bullock confessed that she would be okay to have five more children.
The celebrity explained that she was having a great time, and whatever they faced, they did so as a family. Bullock also once opened up about what a day in her and her children's lives looked like.
What Do Sandra and Her Children's Lives Entail?
Bullock and her ex-husband worked on adopting Louis for four years before welcoming him in January 2010 and revealing the news after the Oscar Awards. Later, Louis encouraged the adoption of Laila when he told some of Bullock's friends that he was going to have a new baby soon.

Laila was adopted in December 2015 at age three-and-a-half, with the actress noting how her son was strong and a leader who led her to her daughter. The following year, the mother of two confessed that it felt like Laila had "always been there," or they'd been making room or waiting for her.
After welcoming her second child, her home became louder because Laila had quite a voice. Bullock believed her daughter would become a singer, a judge, or someone who commanded a room with her voice.

Since welcoming her kids, Sandra has been all about being a hands-on mother. A source once revealed how the actress would take the children to school and pick them up again. The star also helped them with their homework; they did art projects, played board games, read books, and the kids would help make supper. The insider described the celebrity's children as "very normal and grounded" and that their mother is raising them right.
The pair became best friends when they spent time on set with their parents.
In 2022, the doting parent shared how a friend once told her to be ready to love and hate at the same time when it came to having children. However, she admitted that there was more love in her family because her children were strange, funny, cool, and too bright.
The mother of two revealed how she can't spell in front of them anymore because they are listening and have started forming their own opinions. The star also noted how it bothered her that they sometimes didn't agree with her outlook, but she loved them too much and was blessed to have them. However, she hilariously confessed to occasionally wanting to kill them but promised not to!

Bullock described her son as supersensitive, wise, and kind — something she saw in him when he was handed to her. The actress believes he has a spiritual side she hopes not to mess up.
Meanwhile, Laila is "unafraid" and a fighter who's battled to keep her spirit intact. Bullock believes she will accomplish big things and make fundamental changes.
Bullock's "The Lost City" co-star, Channing Tatum, seems to agree. He once said his daughter, Everly, and Laila would get into school fights because they are both strong-willed!
The pair became best friends when they spent time on set with their parents. They had month-long sleepovers and clicked because they both had A-type personalities and abilities to exert their power.
Bullock is aware that at one point, her children will have to leave the nest. However, in 2020, she revealed that she already told her children which colleges they can attend because that's where she felt comfortable living. The actress hilariously told them she would "buy an apartment down the street!"
