Judge Denies Divorce for Man Whose Wife Was Carrying Another’s Child — Man Thanks Judge Years Later
- A man believed his marriage was over when his wife fell pregnant with another man during a one-night stand.
- They'd been together since they were teenagers and had their fair share of affairs through the years.
- He filed for divorce thinking finally, he could end their toxic marriage, but the judge had other plans.
A man bravely shared his story with others hoping it would help those in difficult situations make sound decisions. He opened up about his rocky marriage, including all the ups and downs he and his wife faced since they were teenagers.
Although he rarely shared his personal battles online, the man, Trystan Fossett, wanted to share his story to all those "struggling with a hard decision." He and his wife met as teenagers and welcomed their first child at 16.
Two years later, they were married. At the time, they were way too young to be parents and to be in a stable marriage. He admitted to treating one another "like dirt."
Throughout the early years of their marriage, they cheated on one another. They were extremely unhappy and built resentment and hatred towards one another.
Despite the constant infidelity that took place between them, they remained married. In fact, they welcomed two more children into their lives.
However, with their deep-seated issues swept under the rug, their marriage never recovered despite having three children. They separated for a couple of months and went on with their lives.
Their Toxic Marriage Quickly Went South
During this time, Fossett's wife had a one-night stand with someone she met at a bar. It wasn't supposed to reach this point because his wife wanted to reconcile with him. However, he wasn't open to her suggestions.
The man who impregnated his wife had nine children with six different women. He didn't care for any of them, nor did he pay child support.
The one-night stand was supposed to be the last blow in the couple's marriage. Fossett wanted to end their relationship for good, filing for divorce. However, when they showed up to court to get the divorce going, the judge had different plans. He said:
"Mr. Fossett, even though this is not your biological child, every child deserves a father, and for that reason, I cannot grant this divorce."
The man was furious at this judge for meddling with his life. He now had to live with the fact that his wife had a baby with someone else.
His lawyer assured him that he could re-file once his wife gave birth, but it would take a while. At this point, he was seething that a judge refused to free him from their toxic marriage.
The Man Had a Sudden Change of Heart
Throughout his wife's pregnancy, Fossett noticed a change in her. She was constantly crying—something she never did in her past pregnancies.
During those months, the man noticed his behavior changed, too. He would sit alone and assess his situation. He realized he still wanted to be with his wife despite their circumstances. Finally, after a deep conversation with each other, they decided to give their marriage one last shot.
From being hateful towards the judge for denying their divorce petition, the man ended up being immensely grateful. "What I would have missed!" he said. If he had given up, he would have missed out on the lovely family he has now.
Despite not being the biological dad of his wife's child, he loves him unconditionally, like his own. "That's my baby," he proudly shared.
One day, the man ran into the judge who denied their divorce. Their reunion ended in happy tears, as Fossett hugged him, thanking him for what he did.
Fossett and his wife have been married for 11 years. Fossett continues to honor the commitment he made to his wife, and promised others that while some situations seem grim, things always get better.
He acknowledged that even good people made mistakes, and they often deserved a second chance. "Behaviors can change, but your soul doesn't," he told his viewers.
