Groom Divorces Bride on Their Wedding Day Due to Song She Chose to Dance to for the Occasion
After dancing to a particular song at her wedding, one bride's marriage was over almost as soon as it had begun. Her new husband was outraged over the music she chose to play at their wedding.
A couple in Baghdad got divorced quite quickly in January last year after the bride decided to play a song that the groom and his family considered provocative at their wedding. She also danced to the music.
After seeing his new bride dance to the rhythm of a song called Mesaytara by Syrian singer Lamis Kan, the groom knew that he no longer wanted to be married to the woman he had exchanged vows with moments before.

The song is roughly translated to English as "I am dominant." The lyrics of the music reinforce the idea that the singer is in charge of the relationship and talks of what would happen if their partner ever looked at another woman.
What Happened with the Bride and Groom?
As the new bride danced and sang along to the provocative song in the wedding hall, her groom and his family saw it as provocation. The groom then began to argue with his new bride at their wedding.

It did not take long for the groom to decide that he no longer wanted to be with his new bride after dancing to the song; in fact, it was one of the quickest marriages in Baghdad, with the groom asking for a divorce that same day.

The song has been a source of contention between many couples because of the lyrics, which say:
"I am dominant; you will be ruled under my strict instructions; I will drive you crazy if you looked at other girls on the street."

While the song is a source of conflict in many relationships, it has also been the cause of another marriage going sour very early on. Much like the couple from Baghdad, another couple experienced a similar situation.
What Happened to the Jordanian Couple?
A year before the couple from Baghdad got divorced, before they even had a chance to leave their wedding hall, a couple in Jordan suffered a similar fate because of the provocative song.
The Jordanian bride had also decided she wanted the song to be played at her wedding, and when she began dancing to the music, her husband told her that he wanted a divorce because of it.
In the official music video for the song, Lamis Kan is seen singing her song in many different scenarios, in each of which she looks powerful and ready to take on the world with a smile on her face.

A YouTube video of the official music video has amassed over 270 million views and 2.3 million likes. There are also over 60,000 comments, many of which praise the song and Lamis Kan for her talent.
While both couples form the Middle East ended their marriages because of the song, people worldwide have shared their opinions on the marriages ending before they had a chance to begin.

One person said the groom only used the song as an excuse to escape the relationship. However, another agreed with the grooms that it was not the best wedding song choice unless the brides suddenly realized they had made a mistake getting married.

Some people thought the grooms were taking the song too seriously. One person said:
"Just a silly song. Doubt she really meant that [she] wants to dominate her husband."

Many others said that the song was good and that the grooms had overreacted when they asked for divorces simply because their new wives had been enjoying a dance at their wedding reception.
Although these two grooms wasted no time telling their new brides that the marriage was over, one man showed restraint when waiting until the morning after his wedding to tell his wife that he wanted a divorce. You can read the full story here.
