Inside Hugh Jackman’s 3-Bedroom Bondi Penthouse with Ocean Views
- Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness owned an ocean-front home with stunning finishes.
- Furness previously revealed that she prefers minimalistic designs for her home.
- She and Jackman are now divorcing after more than twenty years together. They have more than one property in assets.
Amid his divorce, Hugh Jackman could be spending plenty of time in his native country, Australia. Jackman reportedly has an expansive property portfolio split between the United States and the Land Down Under.
Some of his homes include a North Bondi penthouse in Sydney located in the eastern suburbs. Jackman reportedly spends more time at the beach when visiting his homeland; hence, it is unsurprising that he purchased the abode at Bondi Beach.
The luxurious low-rise apartment features three bedrooms with an open-plan living and dining area. It has a state-of-the-art kitchen and European oak timber floors. The spacious glass balcony provides for seamless indoor and outdoor living.
The house also boasts a pair of Queen bedrooms with built-in wardrobes. The main bedroom has an ensuite with Minerva limestone, built-in closets, and Juliet balconies.
The oceanfront property, purchased by Jackman and Furness in 2015 for $5.9 million and now estimated to be worth twice that, also features direct lift access, air conditioning, and a secure parking space for two vehicles.
According to a report, Jackman wanted the luxurious penthouse to be his base whenever he was in Australia. The building is reportedly dubbed "Coast" because it makes for a "breathtaking living environment." Its stunning world-famous Bondi beach views also overlook other properties on the other side of the area.
The now-separated couple bought the estate when it was newly built. It is situated in a boutique block of six units, and the renowned SJB designed its architecture and interiors.
The house features luxurious finishes throughout and has high ceilings, with light and airy elements complemented by minimal finishes and white-themed interiors.
Jackman Has Been Spotted at Bondi Beach on Several Occasions & Once Rescued Swimmers
On more than one occasion in the past, Jackman was seen enjoying Bondi Beach. In December 2016, the "Wolverine" star was pictured in his black shorts at the beach. Another image showed him holding a towel over his shoulder with a water bottle in hand.
Daily Mail Celebrity posted these photos on Twitter and wrote at the time, "Hugh Jackman caught up in a shark scare at Bondi beach.
The following year, the same publication shared pictures of the Hollywood star taking a shower outdoors in a pair of two-toned shorts in black and blue. "Hugh Jackman brandishes his muscle-bound physique as he takes an outdoor shower at Bondi Beach," the caption for the post read,
Two years later, the outlet posted other snapshots of Jackman running at the beach, with another shot showing him widely smiling. "Hugh Jackman, 50, reveals his ripped physique at Sydney's Bondi Beach," read the captioned Twitter post from the outlet.
Because of his constant visits to Bondi Beach, Jackman once became a hero for rescuing his kids and beachgoers from a rip tide. In March 2016, his son was pummeled by waves while with him and his daughter.
Jackman was captured calling on other swimmers to return to shore as lifeguards rushed in to save them. He was described as "cool, calm, and collected" during the ordeal.
Jackman & Furness’ Divorce & Their Property Portfolio
Jackman and his estranged wife Furness recently announced that they are divorcing following 27 years of marriage. The couple released a joint statement that read:
"We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
"Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness," the pair continued.
Furness and Jackman share two children, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18. They first met in 1995 while filming the Australian TV show, "Corelli." They had a whirlwind romance as they wed less than a year later, in April 1996.
On their 27th wedding anniversary in April 2023, Jackman penned a heartfelt tribute to the veteran actress on his Instagram account, writing,
"I love you so much. Together, we have created a beautiful family. And life."
After news that their marriage ended in divorce, an insider close to the duo revealed the decision was not a spur-of-the-moment thing, as it was well thought through and carefully considered.
The source disclosed that the decision to divorce was amicable for Jackman and Furness, adding they are both "devastated" because it is "very hard" for them.
With the divorce ongoing, Jackman and Furness will reportedly have to divide their assets, which includes a vast property portfolio. They have an apartment in New York purchased in 2022 for $21.1 million. The Chelsea property boasts spectacular views of the Hudson River. Before purchasing the steel and glass abode, Furness and the actor reportedly sold their West Village apartment, which they had owned since 2008, for $38.9 million.
Jackman and Furness also built their family home in the East Hamptons from scratch, which took them six years to complete. In a January 2023 interview, they revealed they were inspired by Calvin Klein while designing their home. Furness described Klein as the "master of minimalism."
The estate features a screen room, an artist's studio, and a private gym. Outdoors, there is an infinity swimming pool, a pristine garden, and a beautiful view of the ocean.
Furness divulged that the home's interiors include a "monochromatic" theme; adding primary colors is not her style. She previously expressed what building the house meant to her. She said, "This was my lifelong dream. It's like, bucket list, tick off."
As for Jackman, he once posted his childhood home on Twitter in April 2014. It is a brick house surrounded by trees on Bunyana Ave, Wahroonga.
