Ahead of her first red carpet appearance in half a decade, actress Kim Basinger was spotted out and about, running errands in Los Angeles, California, on Friday.

The 69-year-old was dressed appropriately for the overcast weather in a dark grey top under a heavy black jacket and baggy sweatpants with black slides on her feet.

Her large straw hat and oversized sunglasses did not obscure her distinct features. It is said she will be making her return to the red carpet at the "Last Chance For Animals" fundraiser on October 14 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel.

With her daughter, Ireland Baldwin, by her side, Kim gave insight into her reclusiveness on "Red Table Talk." She detailed her agoraphobia, an anxiety disorder that makes it difficult for her to leave the house.

Once, when the actress was shopping in her neighborhood store, she felt something "overcome" her that made breathing hard. "So I left the basket," she said, "and I made it to my car, and that was the last time I drove for almost six, seven months."

Activities like skydiving or being around snakes on the set of "I Dreamed of Africa" in 2000 do not make her flinch. "But accepting my Oscar for 'L.A. Confidential' in 1997? That was terrifying," she admitted in a Net-A-Porter interview.
