Heidi Klum attended two major red carpet events over the past two weeks, which naturally meant that her bold outfit choices were criticized. But one was compared to household items, and another was deemed inappropriate because of her companion for the day.

A Red Carpet Look Made for Attention

On April 20, 2026, Klum made an appearance at 20th Century Studios' "The Devil Wears Prada 2" World Premiere at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center in New York.

She walked the red carpet in a sleeveless teal turtleneck column dress that shimmered with an iridescent finish. The gown had large side cutouts that completely bared her sides, giving the otherwise sleek silhouette a much more daring edge.

The fabric appeared to mimic ripples of water, while airy textured layers gathered at her waist and high neckline in the back. Those layers also created a sculptural train that spread down her back and trailed several feet beyond the hemline.

She leaned into the mermaid-like effect with strappy silver metallic stiletto sandals, and her long golden blonde hair was styled in beachy waves, curled away from her face, and showing off her darker roots.

Of course, the gown was photographed from every angle, but not everyone saw ocean-inspired glamour. Some saw something much closer to home decor after footage from the premiere appeared.

On one Facebook thread, a netizen asked, "Why is she wearing a shower curtain?" Another wrote, "Looks like she got tangled up with someone's curtains."

A third added, "Why is she arching her back as she's walking with that shower curtain?"

The comments kept coming after another clip circulated on another Facebook post, with one person asking simply, "Tablecloth?"

Someone else joked, "OMG😱Can I borrow that for my beach picnic table 😜😃."

The reactions may have been mostly playful, but they made one thing clear: Klum's dress did not quietly pass through the premiere. It became a talking point of its own, and that was not the only recent look that had people debating her style.

Another Sparkly Appearance from Last Week

Just days before the New York premiere, Klum visited Los Angeles on April 16 to attend the LACMA Opening Gala. The event celebrated the new David Geffen Galleries at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Her son, Henry Samuel, joined her as her date.

For this event, Klum chose a bold, shimmering look, donning a brown halter-neck dress made of sheer knit and sequins. She draped a matching fuzzy jacket off her shoulders to complement the gown.

Keeping her aesthetic soft yet striking, she also wore her long blonde hair in voluminous, bouncy waves.

Meanwhile, her son opted for a modern twist on classic formalwear. He wore a black suit featuring satin trim and unique zipper accents, layering the jacket over a scoop-neck tank top. He rounded out his ensemble with derby shoes, a pendant necklace, and sleek sunglasses.

The mother-son red carpet moment also drew attention, but the comments focused heavily on Klum's outfit. After the appearance was shared on Facebook, one person wrote, "Sorry you don't dress like that with your son."

Another commented, "She came in a bathingsuite [sic]." A third added, "Normalizing getting photographed in your underwear with your children 😃😃😃."

Someone else said, "She's wearing a bathing suit cover up."

More reactions appeared on Instagram, where one person wrote, "Dress a little classy, especially with your son seriously."

Another added, "He's very handsome, she needs a new stylist [sic]." One comment took a softer turn, reading, "Baby seal ❤️."

Between the sculptural teal gown in New York and the sheer sequined look in Los Angeles, Heidi Klum gave people plenty to discuss.

Of course, she's the best at attracting attention even outside the red carpet. On New Year's, Klum sparked buzz online after confidently stepping out during a beach getaway, turning heads with her natural, unfiltered look.

Heidi Klum's Beach Look Draws a Flurry of Online Reactions

TMZ snapped Klum walking hand-in-hand with her husband, Tom Kaulitz, 36, along the shoreline. She wore a tiny blue bikini, revealing her toned figure and sun-kissed skin.

The images of the couple prompted a strong online response, with particular attention on Klum. A supporter commented on Instagram, "So refreshing to see non-altered bodies 🥹."

Another stated, "healthy weight ❤️," while another said, "So stunning! No filters omg thankful someone is okay with their own natural body. And a supermodel at that ❤️ totally helps women value their real self."

Reactions poured in across platforms. On X, one supporter wrote, "Whoa ‼️ at 52. 👀 👀 Good Lord she looks 👍 👌 [sic]." One commenter highlighted Klum's self-assurance, using emojis and wordplay to suggest she was radiating confidence more than simply enjoying a swim.

In contrast, another offered a more critical take, comparing Klum to fellow model Gisele Bündchen and suggesting she looked older and less suited to the outfit.

Over on Facebook, reactions were mixed. One critic remarked, "There are better-looking bathing suits for her," while another noted, "Inappropriate. Doesn't flatter her older figure." Still, others came to Klum's defense, with one commenter sharing, "She looks great and is having fun, good for her!"

Heidi Klum Shares Her View on Aging

In a candid People interview in July 2025, she opened up about aging, shifting beauty standards, and life in her 50s.

Klum pushed back on the idea that women become irrelevant with age. "Don't hide in your 50s. We only have this one life, so keep living it," she said.

She also admitted that earlier in life, she saw 50 as old, a belief shaped by the fashion world's obsession with youth. That perception has changed. Klum now believes society is becoming more comfortable with aging and more accepting of natural signs like wrinkles and body changes.

She described her beauty as "ever-changing" and welcomed the evolution. In a moment of striking honesty, she shared that she had found a gray hair in her eyebrow and another on her nipple, calling both normal parts of life.

Klum also spoke openly about cosmetic procedures in the same interview. She said she supports transparency and believes people should make their own choices.

She shared that she's open to trying Botox and pointed to reality TV star Kris Jenner as an example of someone who, in her view, "looks fantastic." Klum added that she isn't ruling out treatments and would consider them if the time feels right.

Looking ahead, Klum said she wants to remain close to her husband, Kaulitz, and her four children. Her focus, she said, is on family, happiness, and enjoying what comes next.
