On September 25, 2023, reports revealed the driver from the accident that killed Treat, Ryan Koss — a singer who was a volunteer for helping people several years ago — pleaded not guilty to the charges of his death. The 35-year-old reportedly faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of gross negligence, which resulted in the tragic passing of the "Hair" star.

Williams is survived by his wife, Pam Van Sant, and the couple's two children, Gill and Elinor Williams. Since Treat's death, his spouse has kept his memory alive by posting photos of him on social media.
In August, Pam shared a picture of her and the couple's son and daughter posing outdoors. She also admitted that although time passes, "grief doesn't get any easier, but life is fragile."
That same month, Pam posted a throwback image featuring her and her beloved husband in matching black coats and penned, "[…] We are devastated but we are strong and we are okay and we are grateful to feel Treat with us every day."
The actress and mother of two also remembered her partner in a September 18, 2023 Instagram post. She shared another photo of them and captioned it, "My love. I miss him so much."
