The renewed concern first flared in October 2025, when her sister, Freida Parton, shared an emotional Facebook message urging people to pray for the star. In the heartfelt post, Freida revealed she had spent the night in deep distress, writing, "Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly."

She added that many people already knew the singer had not been feeling her best, and said she was leaning on faith during the difficult moment. "She's strong, she's loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she's going to be just fine," she wrote. "Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!"

Fans Scrutinize Every Detail After Star Steps Back Into View

Since then, Dolly has stepped back into public view, recently appearing at opening day at Dollywood, the Tennessee theme park that has long been tied to her glittering career.

Photos from the event quickly spread online, with relieved fans celebrating the sight of the icon. But it did not take long for the images to spark a fresh wave of chatter, as some viewers zeroed in on one striking detail — her footwear.

Several commenters said they noticed what appeared to be swelling in her feet. "Did anybody notice her feet are swollen," one person wrote. Another echoed the concern, saying, "I noticed they looked puffy," while adding that they were amazed she could still slip into her trademark high heels.

Others, however, brushed off the speculation, pointing out that such changes are hardly unusual with age. "She is 80. My gosh, our feet do this as we age," one commenter wrote. Another added, "Oh yes, they do look swollen."

As the conversation swirled, others focused on their admiration for Parton's resilience and determination to keep going. "She continues to work through everything," one person commented. Another fan offered a simple but glowing tribute, writing, "She's an angel on earth."

Dolly herself also shared a deeply personal update during the event. While opening the 41st season of Dollywood in Tennessee, she spoke candidly to the crowd about the emotional toll the past year had taken on her.

"I'm not dating anybody, I'm not married, I don't think I'll ever be married but once," she told attendees. Then, in a tender reflection on her late husband, she added, "I think Carl Dean's waiting for me on the other side."

She also explained why fans have not seen her out on tour recently. "I've had a few little health issues and we're taking good care of them," she said. "I just kind of got wore down and wore out grieving over Carl and a lot of other little things going on. I just got myself kind of where I need to build myself back up spiritually, emotionally and physically."

The Grief Behind the Glamour

Carl died about a year ago. The couple had been married for more than five decades, and his death marked the end of one of country music's most famously private love stories. When Dolly announced his passing, she said he would be laid to rest in a private ceremony attended only by immediate family members.

She did not publicly reveal the cause of death, though Carl had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2019. The pair first met in 1964 at a laundromat in Nashville, in what was said to be Dolly's very first day in the city as a young singer-songwriter. She would later describe the moment as love at first sight.

They married two years later, in 1966. Despite Dolly's towering fame, Carl stayed almost entirely out of the spotlight. An asphalt contractor by trade, he rarely appeared in public with his wife, though she often spoke warmly about him in interviews. He was 82 years old when he died.

Dolly later addressed the growing speculation over her health head-on in a direct message to fans. In October 2025, just one day after her sister publicly asked for prayers, the singer posted an Instagram video to reassure worried supporters.

In the clip, she took on the rumors with her trademark candor. "I know lately everybody thinks that I'm sicker than I am," Parton said. "Do I look sick to you? I'm working hard."

The video was filmed while she was shooting commercials for the Grand Ole Opry music venue in Nashville, underscoring that she was still very much active and immersed in her work. And in classic Dolly fashion, she paired the message with a playful caption that cut through the fear and frenzy, "I ain't dead yet!"

Her blunt reassurance was clearly meant to calm fans rattled by her sister's earlier plea for prayers. And while Dolly Parton acknowledged she has faced some health challenges, she made one thing abundantly clear — she is still moving forward, still working, and still very much herself.
