In her statement, Parton said she postponed her upcoming concerts because she had been "dealing with some health challenges," and her doctors told her she must undergo "a few procedures." She explained this would prevent her from properly rehearsing or preparing for the scheduled performances.

Her announcement marked a sharp turn from just a few months earlier, when she revealed plans for a six-show residency. Parton had originally announced the concerts last June, with performances scheduled for December at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

In her latest update, she confirmed that the residency has been rescheduled for September 2026. Tickets remain valid for the new dates, and refunds are available. Additional instructions will be emailed to purchasers.

Although the concerts are postponed, Parton indicated that she will continue working on other projects from her home in Nashville. She also clarified that she has no plans of "quittin' the business."

While she acknowledged the need to slow down temporarily, she expressed optimism about future work and thanked fans for their continued support.

The announcement follows the recent death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, though she did not mention it in her statement. However, back in March 2025, Parton paid tribute to her late husband by sharing a special song, "If You Hadn't Been There."

She announced the tribute on Instagram, sharing a nostalgic throwback photo of herself and Dean from their younger years. Alongside the image, she shared a touching message: "Carl and I fell in love when I was 18 and he was 23, and like all great love stories, they never end. They live in memory and in song, and I dedicate this to him."

The post featured Parton's emotional rendition of the song, moving many fans to tears. "Awww Dolly, I cried. Such a great man. My boss was friends with Carl. What a gracious man he was. 🙏💔," one fan shared.

Someone else commented, "Dolly, I am sobbing at the dinner table 🥹. What a beautiful, soul-baring tribute to a man who shared you in all your joy, humor, and light with all of us. You and Carl are so so loved🤍."

The song, "If You Hadn't Been There," carries a sentimental yet uplifting tone. Despite the sorrowful occasion, its melody remains hopeful. "I wouldn't be here, if you hadn't been there, holding my hand, showing you care, you made me dream, more than I dared, and I wouldn't be here, if you hadn't been there," Parton sings.

The renowned singer first shared the news of her husband's passing on March 3, via social media. The couple spent nearly 60 years married, but never had children together.

In a March 6 Instagram post, Parton thanked family, friends, and fans for their support and shared that she had found peace in her faith, "He is in God's arms now and I am okay with that. I will always love you."

Parton's tribute followed the announcement of Dean's funeral arrangements, marking another step in honoring his memory. According to details shared with the Associated Press by her publicist, Dean was to be laid to rest in a private ceremony attended only by his immediate family.

Parton shared a heartfelt message, opening up about the deep grief she experienced after losing her husband of nearly 60 years. "Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy," the country legend shared.

While the family chose not to share specific details about the location or nature of the ceremony, the decision to keep it private reflected Dean's lifelong preference to stay out of the spotlight.

As preparations unfolded for the family to say their final goodbyes, Parton's sister, Stella, addressed the public response on X on March 4 and acknowledged the outpouring of love and support. "On behalf of my sister Dolly, our family and Carl's family, we appreciate your prayers at this time," she penned.

Details surrounding his funeral and the message shared by Parton's sister follow initial reports about the death of the man who captured the "9 to 5" singer's heart. Dean is survived by Parton and his siblings, Sandra and Donnie.

The family, who has not shared Dean's cause of death, asked for privacy as they mourned the loss of a man who had been a constant, grounding force in Parton’s life since their 1966 wedding.

Just two years before they tied the knot, Parton met Dean on her very first day in Nashville, a chance encounter that would change the course of her life. She had just arrived in town to stay with her Uncle Bill, who had moved there just two weeks earlier.

While helping care for her uncle's son, Parton walked to the local Wishy‐Washy laundromat to clean a load of clothes. As she made her way down the street, taking in the new surroundings, a man called out to her.

Coming from a small town, Parton was used to friendly faces, so she waved back. That man was Dean. She was just 18 years old at the time. He was 21. "I was surprised and delighted that while he talked to me, he looked at my face (a rare thing for me). He seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about," noted Parton.

Although they shared a friendly connection from the start, Parton initially turned down Dean's invitation to go out, staying true to the safety lessons she's learned growing up. Instead, she suggested he visit her at her uncle's house. Dean accepted and showed up every single day, sitting with her on the porch. Still, Parton refused to let him inside.

It wasn't until her aunt had a day off and could take over babysitting duties that Parton finally agreed to go out with him. "He drove me straight to his folks' house and introduced me to his mother and daddy. Cause he said he knew right the minute he saw me that that's the one he wanted," Parton gushed.

They tied the knot on Memorial Day 1966 in a quiet ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia, when Parton was just 20 and Dean was 23. The small and private ceremony was attended only by Parton's mother, Avie Lee, along with the preacher and his wife.

Over the decades, Parton often reflected on the strength of their marriage, crediting its longevity to the couple’s contrasting personalities. She shared that their differences kept the relationship intact and helped it thrive through the years.

Parton described Dean as a loner, a trait that made their marriage work. Their house, however, was anything but quiet. Five of Parton’s younger siblings lived with them, turning their home into what she once compared to a busy depot.

But Dean didn't mind the chaos or her constant travel. In fact, he welcomed the space. With Parton often on the road and taking the kids with her, the time apart became part of their rhythm. The distance, she said, made their reunions even sweeter.

Because of his near-total absence from public life, speculation grew that Parton's husband was imaginary. But she finally addressed the long-standing rumor: her husband simply wanted no part in fame.

She explained that Dean valued privacy above all else and deliberately stayed out of the spotlight. According to Parton, he understood that public attention came with a price, and he had no interest in trading his peace for publicity.

"I've always respected and appreciated that in him and I've always tried to keep him out of the limelight as much as I can. He said, 'I didn't choose this world, I chose you, and you chose that world. But we can keep our lives separate and together.' And we do and we have," Parton explained.
