After a hectic day of feeding your kids, entertaining their tantrums, looking after them, and cleaning the mess they create, you just want to sit back and relax. Even at that time, some self-doubting questions creep into your mind―am I doing this right? Is this how motherhood is supposed to be?

Motherhood is more like a rollercoaster ride, with some days being extraordinary while others make you question your parenting style. Looking after a tiny human being and ensuring the baby feels comfortable at all times is a struggle that not many people talk about. It takes a toll on your physical and mental well-being as you struggle to find the right way to care for them.

Since every woman has her own parenting style, no generalized instructions can define how a woman should look after her kid. However, some telltale signs say you're an exceptional mother despite the doubts creeping into your mind. Want to learn about them? Scroll down to read the ten signs that prove you're an excellent mom.

1. You Feel Guilty and Question Yourself

Questioning yourself and feeling like you're not doing enough to care for your kid is a sign that you're doing an excellent job as a mother. If you didn't doubt yourself, that would mean you don't care about your baby.

If you constantly question your choices as a mother, then it's a sign you're trying to improve yourself and be a better parent. Keep it up, mommy!

2. You Allow Your Child to Ask Questions

Why is the sky blue, Mommy? Why are we not turning right instead of left? Why did you choose this name for me? There are endless questions that pop up in a child's mind every day, and the fact that you hear these creative questions is a sign that you're a good mother.

Allowing your child to ask what they want develops a bond of trust between you and your kid and helps them think critically and polish their creative side. It seems difficult to keep up with their questions, but imagine what you would feel if they didn't ask anything. That would be terrible.

3. You Deal With Frequent Meltdowns

Dealing with your child's meltdowns and tantrums is a tough job, but the fact that your kid trusts you enough to show their true feelings is a sign that you're a good parent. If your kid melts down when you're around, it means you've provided them with a safe space to express their feelings without hesitating.

4. You Have a Messy House

Is your house messy because your kid always turns the toy basket upside down to find their favorite stuffed animal? That's another sign you're a good mother because research suggests children who are allowed to create a mess grow up to be more creative.

5. You Don't Hesitate to Say No to Your Kid

It's natural to tell your child they can't do certain things, which doesn't make you a bad parent. In fact, you need to set boundaries for your little ones to prepare them to face the real world. After all, you want them to grow into law-abiding citizens, not rule-breakers.

6. You Also Allow Your Child to Be Independent

Besides stopping your child from doing things that could harm them, you also allow your kid to be independent. You let them choose their clothes, comb their hair, and wear the shoes they like. That's a sign you're a good mother because allowing them to be independent would make them confident and will enable them to make decisions.

7. You Set Boundaries With Other People

Do you decline party invites to places where you know you wouldn't reach home before your child's bedtime? It's okay to do that because it shows you prioritize your child's routine by setting boundaries with others.

8. Getting Enough Sleep Is Important to You

Don't feel guilty if you prioritize getting an excellent 8-hour sleep over other things. Always remember, a well-rested mommy is an efficient mommy! This is another sign you're doing great as a parent.

9. You Break Down Sometimes

As humans, we all have days when we start questioning our life choices. Don't feel bad if you sometimes ask questions like, "Why did I choose to become a mother?" It's okay. Breaking down and having bad days shows you're human, just like the rest of us.

It shows that you care and allows you to appreciate the good days of your life. It doesn't make you a bad mother, but shows you're a great parent who feels emotions like everyone else.

10. Your Kid Comes to You for Advice

One sign that proves you're a fantastic mother is that your child comes to you for advice. Whether it's about choosing an outfit while going out with their friends or asking you which color pencil they should use to complete their homework, turning to you for advice shows how much they trust you. If they value your advice and turn to you when in trouble, you're doing a great job!
