This Girl Became a Supermodel Who Asked Doctor to ‘Dig a Hole’ in Her Chest & Whose Billionaire Ex Asked for Abortion
- The little girl in the cover photo became a legendary supermodel and fashion icon.
- She opened up about her health battles and recalled how she once asked her doctor to "dig a hole" in her chest when she was diagnosed with cancer.
- The star's lawyer previously revealed how the model's billionaire ex asked her to abort their son.
The little girl in the cover image ended up becoming a famous supermodel and fashion icon when she grew up. Before building an incredible career as a premiere 'It' girl, she was just a little girl raised by a doting mom and dad from Canada who had a deep passion for everything to do with fashion and beauty.
During a live broadcast interview, the star, who went on to become one of the most influential and accomplished models of all time, shared some details about her childhood. She revealed how she's always been obsessed with clothing and fashion in general.
As a young girl, she delighted in playing dress-up with her aunts' makeup and any clothes and costume jewelry they weren't wearing anymore. When she would play with her Barbie dolls, the fashion icon would enjoy making them over a lot, so much so that she admitted:
"...I would give them burns because I would dress them and undress them so often, and I would make them get married a lot cause you could make them a veil with a Kleenex, with a tissue...I just loved it, and I knew that's what I wanted to do..."
Contrary to popular belief, her start in modeling did not begin with her getting scouted immediately. She was only later discovered by a scout who had come to view a local pageant that her local agency in Canada insisted she participate in.
However, as determined as she is, she stated that even if the agent had not found her, she would have found a way to enter into the modeling world. Before she started modeling, she worked at a convenience store, selling items like lottery tickets, cigarettes, and more, and would use her money to buy fashion magazines like Vogue.
The supermodel would then tear out pages with pictures of other iconic models and plaster them all over her walls at home. Her focused and unrelenting passion, drive, and determination ultimately resulted in her accomplishing her modeling dreams, working with the likes of other supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford and titans in the fashion industry like Marc Jacobs.
Linda Evangelista Opened Up about Her Cancer Diagnosis
The iconic top model who achieved the dream she had as a little girl is the incomparable Linda Evangelista, 58. In addition to realizing her childhood dream, she has also weathered some intense storms.
Apart from focusing on her health, Evangelista is also focused on being a devoted mom to the son she shares with her ex-partner, François-Henri Pinault.
This month, Evangelista opened up about being a breast cancer survivor. She was first diagnosed with cancer in December 2018 and a second time in July 2022.
The fashion legend recalled how her first bout of cancer was discovered during a routine annual mammogram. She ended up undergoing a double mastectomy, and though things were extremely challenging, Evangelista recalled how she was vehement in not succumbing to the illness:
"...I thought, you know, I'm not gonna die of breast cancer..."
Due to her bad Oncotype DX score, which is a score that informs one of the probability of getting cancer again, she had to undergo chemotherapy. She also had to take medication, which she still takes to this day:
"...I'm on fantastic meds for five years...They're horrible, the hormone suppressors...they make you feel old..."
When her cancer returned after her surgery, Evangelista was determined to do all she could to combat the disease a second time, no matter what that looked like. She shared that she told her doctor:
"...dig a hole in my chest. I don't want it to look pretty...I want to see a hole in my chest when you're done..."
Although her current prognosis is good, the dark-haired beauty admitted that it's not great. Of her health status now, she confessed:
"I know I have one foot in the grave, but I'm totally in celebration mode."
Linda Evangelista's Billionaire Ex and Father of Her Son Reportedly Wanted Her to Abort Their Child
Apart from focusing on her health, Evangelista is also focused on being a devoted mom to the son she shares with her ex-partner, François-Henri Pinault. Although things appear to be amicable between the former couple now, a news outlet previously reported that during their child support case, Evangelista's lawyer told the judge that Pinault wanted her to abort their child.
However, the exes were clearly able to put the troubling ordeal behind them, as their son leads a happy life with his family, including his doting stepmom, Salma Hayek. Even Hayek and Evangelista share a good relationship, as the supermodel fondly remembered how gracious Hayek was to her one Thanksgiving.
Evangelista shared how Hayek insisted on coming to her for the family holiday and cooked food specially made for her, indicating that the two have managed to make their blended family work.
