A Long-Awaited Dream Realized
Recently, Lipinski's life took a beautiful turn as she embraced the role of a mother. She and her husband, Kapostasy, welcomed their daughter, Georgie, born through surrogacy. She is excited to experience the joys of motherhood, from caring for a crying baby to sleepless nights. The arrival of Georgie is a dream come true for Lipinski and Kapostasy, who tied the knot in 2017. Lipinski shared:
"I dreamt about this for so long."
Lipinski's journey to motherhood was marked by a five-year struggle with infertility, which included enduring multiple painful miscarriages. These challenges left Lipinski feeling broken and isolated, a pain that led her and Kapostasy to launch their vulnerable podcast, "Unexpecting."
Throughout these years, Lipinski faced countless obstacles in pursuing a successful pregnancy. She underwent 24 anesthesia sessions, four miscarriages, four dilation and curettage procedures, six failed transfers, and eight retrievals. She was also diagnosed with endometriosis, leading to two major surgeries.

The weight of consecutive miscarriages took a profound toll on her emotional well-being. Lipinski's lowest point was experiencing two back-to-back miscarriages, leaving her feeling numb. It wasn't just the miscarriages that took a toll; the failed IVF transfers added to the pain. The loss of embryos created a sense of grief and heartbreak.
Lessons in Strength
The Olympian, known for her resilience in the face of competition, acknowledges that the intensity of her athletic career pales compared to her IVF journey. She revealed:
"If I thought the Olympics was a difficult journey, I had no idea what was in store for me because this is by far the most difficult thing that I've ever encountered in my life."
Yet, despite the immense challenges, Lipinski never lost hope. Her unwavering desire to become a mother carried her through the darkest moments, teaching her that sometimes life doesn't turn out how we expect it to.
A Journey of Love and Resilience
Lipinski exchanged vows with her husband, Kapostasy, in a romantic ceremony held at Middleton Place in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2017. The couple had been dating for two years before deciding to tie the knot. Lipinski's closest friends, including fellow figure skater Johnny Weir, played essential roles in her bridal party.
While the years of infertility struggles took a toll on her marriage, Lipinski sees the beauty in the journey. The hardships they faced provided the couple with valuable time to learn how to support each other. Lipinski described their enduring love as she believes it was meant to be.
The arrival of their daughter, Georgie, represents the ultimate victory after years of heartache and perseverance. The joys and challenges of motherhood now enrich Lipinski's life, and she is excitedly embracing this new chapter.
