The cause of beloved "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star Andre Braugher's premature death has been revealed. According to news outlets, the late actor, who tragically passed at 61 earlier this week, died after succumbing to an illness.
Braugher's longtime publicist, Jennifer Allen, confirmed that the "City of Angels" talent was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months before his demise. His illness caused his death despite him having quit smoking and drinking years before.

When Braugher's grieving fans found out about what caused the Emmy Award nominee and winner's death, many were left heartbroken and reacted with despair and sorrow. One fan expressed, "Oh how awful." Another commented, "That's devastating 😢."
Braugher was a man of incredible talent and impeccable integrity. Apart from his prowess as an actor, he was known for taking things in his stride, like when the hit show he starred in, as Captain Ray Holt, for years, got canceled by Fox initially before returning with NBC (who then wrapped the show in 2021).

Far from being saddened about the ending of an iconic series, Braugher saw the silver lining in the situation. Concerning his perspective on the ordeal, Braugher said, "When we weren't on the schedule for Fox, I said to my wife, 'Here's the new chapter, or whatever it is. Let's see what it brings.'..."

Aside from his illustrious career, Braugher was a devoted family man and prioritized his loved ones above everything else. He was a loving husband to his beloved wife, Ami Brabson, and a doting dad to their three sons. The deceased star was so devoted to his family that he would fly back and forth between Los Angeles (where his show was filmed) and their home base in New Jersey.
Of his decision to always put his family first, Braugher explained, "I made a choice along the way that Ami and those boys were too important to not spend quantity time with..."

Braugher was not all that interested in the glitz and glam of the celebrity lifestyle, as he previously stated that there is no substance in superficial things of that nature.
