Man Tries to One-up His Date’s Story about Freak Accident Unaware His Story Was Also about Her
During her date, a woman made a light-hearted joke about her clumsiness without expecting the response she would get. To her astonishment, the man countered by sharing a story about a girl who had broken all her bones in a freak accident, attempting to outdo her with a more interesting tale.
Social media is filled with a treasure trove of valuable information, fascinating discoveries, and, frequently, the most perplexing narratives. Back in 2020, a Twitter user, Aidan Moher, encouraged his followers to share something about themselves that sounded like a fabricated story but was, in fact, based on actual events.

Several individuals inundated the Twitter thread with their baffling stories, leaving Moher surprised, as he conceded that he had never foreseen the extent to which his post would gain attention.
Weird but True
Twitter user Amanda Nell Edgar shared her personal experience in the comments, recounting a moment during a date when she jokingly mentioned her clumsiness. The man across from her responded by comparing her to a girl who had broken all her bones in a freak accident.
But by the look of things, we can tell that the man will remember his date and his mistake forever.
"In college, I fell out of my bunk bed and broke both of my legs and one arm. Years later on a date, I made a joke about being clumsy, and the guy told me I couldn't compare to this woman his EMT brother helped once... who fell out of her bunk and broke all the bones. It was me," Edgar revealed, encapsulating her remarkable yet true story.
Edgar's initial tweet piqued the curiosity of other users, prompting her to share additional details in subsequent tweets. Acknowledging their interest, she explained that it was a standard-height bunk, but her mistake was having a wooden desk chair next to the bed. Consequently, when she fell, her body landed across the chair, a surprising circumstance leading to broken bones. Continuing the narrative, Edgar noted the unexpected popularity of her tweet.

A user inquired about Edgar's feelings when sharing her story with someone who attempted to one-up her. Edgar responded, expressing agreement with Wong's observation. She remarked, "Right! He was trying to [one-up] me with my own story."
A second user, Glizzy McGuire, shared a similar experience, expressing surprise that someone else had also broken multiple bones from falling out of a college bunk bed. Edgar responded to McGuire, expressing her own astonishment, "Wow! I, too, am shocked there are two of us!"
A third user, Andrea Lynn, reacted with disbelief, exclaiming, "OMG! YOU ARE KIDDING ME." Edgar replied, conveying the reality of her experience, "I only wish! It was in my sophomore year at KW. That spring, I directed and choreographed Clue: The Musical on crutches."

Another user expressed empathy, stating, "I can't even imagine how much recovering from that sucked." Edgar responded, providing details of her challenging recovery, "It was so awful. My dorm was not wheelchair accessible, and neither was my parents' house."
"I ended up having to move back home and had to have someone wheel me to the bathroom on a desk chair (to fit through the door). Couldn't wash my hair myself, friends came to help. Etc," shared Edgar.
Another fan inquired if there was someone on the bottom bunk who might still have nightmares of Edgar crashing right in front of them. Edgar responded, revealing that there was no one on the bottom bunk, and in fact, that was a particularly challenging aspect.

She had returned to the dorms early from Thanksgiving, so there was nobody around to assist. She had to drag herself over to the phone (landline then) and call her boyfriend in the neighboring dorm. Unfortunately, he couldn't get in because it was not a co-education dorm, making the situation particularly traumatizing.
Inquiring about potential underlying causes, another user asked if Edgar had been tested for Osteoporosis and Osteopenia. The user shared their own experience of breaking their 5th metatarsal from standing up from a sitting position, attributing it to a remarkably low vitamin D level.
Edgar responded, expressing surprise at the connection. She mentioned that nobody initially focused on potential causes, perhaps due to the shock surrounding the severity of her injury. However, she discovered much later that her vitamin D levels were extremely low, and now takes prescription vitamin D twice a week.

Another user shared a memory, stating that before meeting Edgar, they knew her from their older sister's yearbook as the girl who got her foot stuck in a hoop skirt during a school musical and had to crawl offstage. Edgar responded, acknowledging the memory and adding, "Yes!!! I had forgotten all about this, but can confirm!"
She also revealed that she ended up finding the love of her life, but it wasn't the same guy she went on a date with. But by the look of things, we can tell that the man will remember his date and his mistake forever.
Today, Edgar is no longer a clumsy girl and successfully runs her ghostwriting business, "Page and Podium," composing "memoirs that establish leaders' personal brands."
