In a tragic turn of events, a two-year-old boy, Bronson Battersby, was discovered deceased beside his father, Kenneth, also known as "Kenny," who suffered a heart attack 14 days after the last sighting of the pair on Boxing Day.

Following the heartbreaking discovery, a rapid review was initiated in Skegness, Lincolnshire, UK, as social workers who visited the rented property on January 2, 2024, and again two days later were unable to prevent the devastating outcome.

Shockingly, there was a five-day gap between the last visit and the grim discovery of the lifeless bodies on January 9. The social worker involved has reportedly not faced suspension but is understood to have voluntarily taken time off.

Surviving amidst the tragedy, an emaciated pet boxer dog named Skylar was discovered in the home in Skegness, Lincolnshire. Preliminary tests revealed that Bronson had succumbed to dehydration and starvation.

Following this tragic incident, Sarah received a visit from the police at her door, delivering the devastating news.

In an emotional statement on January 16, Bronson's mother, Sarah Piesse, aged 43, fought back tears as she shared her grief. Disclosing the results of the post-mortem examination, she revealed, "Bronson starved to death because his dad died."

In a heart-wrenching moment, Sarah, a mother of three, recounted the difficulty of identifying Bronson's lifeless body. She tearfully expressed, "I couldn't pick him up because his body was too fragile. I could only touch him. He had been left there too long."

Sarah had her last encounter with Bronson before Christmas, following a disagreement with her ex-partner. The two-year-old was last seen alive on Boxing Day when he waved at a neighbor who visited him and his father.

On December 27, 2023, Kenneth messaged a neighbor expressing gratitude: "Thanks so much for caring, it means the world to me and Bronson." Subsequently, Bronson's social worker sent a text to Kenneth to schedule a routine visit. However, on January 2, when there was no response at their residence, the social worker knocked on the door, made inquiries at other addresses, and contacted the police.

Lincolnshire County Council reported that the social worker conducted an unannounced visit on January 4. In the absence of a response, she reached out to the police once again. Finally, she arranged to obtain a key from the landlord, which resulted in the somber revelation. Following this, police and medics hurried to the location, declaring both Bronson and Kenneth deceased.

Following this tragic incident, Sarah received a visit from the police at her door, delivering the devastating news.

A family friend, keeping Bronson's teddy and woolen gloves on her mantelpiece, expressed profound sorrow, stating, "It breaks my heart. Bronson deserved so much better. He was such a loving, adorable little boy."

In reflecting on the harrowing situation, the family friend shared that Bronson was discovered curled up at Kenneth's legs. "He was left in the dark and must have been terrified and so confused," said the family friend. The friend further suggested that Bronson must have thought his dad was merely asleep or in some state of repose.

Providing insight into the dire circumstances, the friend shared, "Apparently, children of that age can last three or four days without any food. It must have been torture. He was just gorgeous. He was always smiling and so loving. He always wanted a cuddle. He was like any toddler. He loved anything that made a noise."

The friend shared details of Bronson's preferences, noting his love for cartoons on the YouTube channel "Cocomelon," his constant play with the Little Tykes drum kit, and his fondness for nursery rhymes.

The friend emphasized the strong bond between Kenneth and Bronson, stating that Kenneth loved Bronson more than anything, describing them as "inseparable" and like "two peas in a pod." Kenneth, unemployed, had a pre-existing heart condition and severe jaundice in recent months. Bronson was categorized as vulnerable by social services, leading to regular weekly visits.
