Am I Wrong for Telling My Husband He Has to Sleep on the Floor for a Week?
A woman did not feel like traveling to her in-law's house since she had just had a baby. But her husband convinced her and promised her the utmost comfort. When he failed to deliver, things got sour between the couple.
Traveling with a newborn baby is never easy, and this Reddit user posted under the AITA subreddit about a trip that went wrong and led to a fight between her and her husband.

The woman explained that her husband had been trying to convince her to visit his parents for a week, but she was in no mood to travel. The Redditor had many reasons; firstly, she had just had a baby a month and a half ago, was dealing with postpartum depression, and did not feel like her body was ready for all the traveling.
Additionally, the Original Poster (OP) expressed that she did not feel like being around people, especially her mother-in-law, because she found it tiring. Her in-laws had a Rottweiler, which wasn't aggressive but was not well-trained. "He's not aggressive, but he's destructive, jumps on people, and barks excessively." said the Redditor.

The OP clarified to her husband that she did not want to visit her in-laws, but he promised they would book a hotel. Since his parents' house was on the outskirts of town, the couple only had two hotels within a one-and-a-half-hour radius to choose from.
This meant the OP's husband needed to act fast and book a place, but each time the wife asked, her husband would tell her not to worry. When the day finally came, the couple arrived at around 10:00 p.m. and found out that the bed and breakfast closed doors at 8:00 p.m.

The couple had to return to the in-law's house, which didn't sit well with her. Things got worse when she woke up the next day and realized the dog had urinated all over the baby's bassinet. But fortunately, the baby was not in it.
However, this only made OP angrier. She demanded that her husband take her to a hotel, but he found out there was no space when he tried to get them a room. The OP tried to call another hotel, which was fully booked.
The frustration kept rising, and the mother asked her husband to take her home. He tried to calm her down and convinced his wife to stay with his parents. When the OP realized there was no way out, she said if they stayed, then her husband would have to sleep on the floor.

The wife reiterated," I told him I won't be putting our baby in that bassinet, considering we can't clean it without a rug cleaner, which his parents don't have. I told him he's not sleeping in the bed with me and the baby because the bed is a double, and I don't trust that one of us won't roll over on the baby, and therefore, she needs her side of the bed."
The husband tried to counterargue his wife's conditions and asked her to sleep while holding the baby, but the OP said she did not trust herself enough to get through the night with the baby in her arms.
The father still tried to argue and claimed that what his wife was doing was unfair, but the OP did not budge and stood her ground. He blamed her for ruining the trip and keeping him away from his family.

However, people in the comment section were on the OP's side. Commenters thought the husband did not purposely book a place for them to stay because he wanted to be with his parents. Netizens believed the woman could have left her husband and taken the baby home.
The husband infuriated the readers, with some calling him childish for not respecting and listening to his wife's concerns. "It sounds like you are raising two children, not one," remarked a Redditor.
Readers thought the OP's reasons for not wanting to travel were validated and felt it was unfortunate that her husband did not support her through her transition to being a new mother.
