Some fathers are actively challenging outdated stereotypes about fatherhood, emphasizing that fathers are full-time parents, not just relief for mothers.

In response, and to emphasize that caring for his own child was not 'babysitting' but parenting, he bluntly told the woman that his daughter’s mother died in childbirth so it has only been him and her since. “The woman’s face turned ghost white,” the father expressed.

People in the comment section loved Kevin’s response, with the video garnering up to 1.8 million views and 9,780 comments "THIS IS PERFECT!!!!” proclaimed a fan. Commenters loved his reply because suggesting that fathers “babysit” their children makes it seem like their involvement in their kid’s life is an exception.

One father explained, "I always tell people, 'No, I am being a father,' but I might try this next time." While another TikTok user agreed that saying the mother has died makes the person feel guilty for assuming the father was babysitting. Kevin's reply might have been terrifying, some believed it a great lesson. "I bet that woman from the grocery store will never say that to someone else ever again though," remarked a TikTok user.

Another woman said her ex-husband also used to say he was babysitting their children, and she would remind him that he was parenting because babysitting would mean he was getting paid to look after the kids.

Some mothers said they also get asked who is babysitting their children whenever they are seen in public without them. "I would get asked aw whos babysitting? I’d say no one and say dad has them. “Oh dads baby sitting?” No. Dads being a dad? Like a parent?" added a commenter.
